NBA Game Summary - Charlotte at Detroit

(Tuesday, January 13th)

Final Score: Charlotte 80, Detroit 78

Auburn Hills, MI (Sports Network) - Raymond Felton hit a high-arching jumper with 0.7 ticks to play, and Detroit squandered a comfortable late lead to drop a stunning 80-78 decision to the Charlotte Bobcats at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

In the end, Felton didn't miss in the fourth quarter, making all five of his shot attempts for 12 points in the period. On the other hand, Detroit couldn't find the bottom of the basket, missing its last eight shot attempts, including Allen Iverson's game-winning three-point attempt at the buzzer.

Felton scored a game-high 23 points to go along with six rebounds and nine assists, while Gerald Wallace added 18 points and 10 rebounds and Emeka Okafor came within one rebound of a double-double with 13 points and nine boards.

The Bobcats split a four-game road trip in frantic fashion, and in the process, snapped a six-game losing skid to the Pistons.

Felton scored 12 of Charlotte's 18 fourth-quarter points, which was just enough as the Pistons barely reached double-digits with 10 points in the period.

Rodney Stuckey tallied 22 points with six boards and five assists for the game, Rasheed Wallace added 16 points and seven rebounds and Iverson donated 13 points for the Pistons, who saw their five-game home court winning streak come to an end.

Richard Hamilton's free throw with 4:22 to play gave the Pistons a 78-71 edge -- the last point Detroit scored on the night. Felton followed with a three- pointer and a jumper for a 78-76 game with 2:06 on the clock.

Stuckey, who finished 8-of-11 on the contest, missed a shot from in close, and Raja Bell's jumper with 1:28 to go squared the contest. Rasheed Wallace misfired on a bank shot from the elbow, and Gerald Wallace was off the mark on a short shot in traffic on the other end.

Then came some controversy, as Rasheed Wallace was whistled for an offensive foul that drew the ire of the forward and the Pistons bench. That set the stage for Felton, who dribbled at the top of the circle, moved to the right and tossed a fadeaway jumper up and down straight through the net with less than a second to play.

Iverson had a chance for the win, but his in-rhythm three-pointer was short as time expired. Iverson's old head coach and mentor in Philadelphia, current Bobcats head coach Larry Brown, embraced the embattled guard after the game.

Detroit held a 27-25 lead after one stanza and a 48-41 advantage at the half.
