Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Raja Bell scored 19 points and Shannon Brown nailed the go-ahead three-pointer with under three minutes left, as Charlotte held off the Washington Wizards, 92-89, at the Verizon Center.
Boris Diaw had 18 points, Juwan Howard 12 and Adam Morrison 11 for the Bobcats, who won despite Gerald Wallace being held without a shot and to zero points in 20 minutes of court time. Raymond Felton came back from a right ankle injury early in the third quarter to finish with nine points and 11 assists, as the Bobcats snapped a two-game skid and beat the Wizards for a third consecutive time.
Caron Butler had 19 points for the Wizards, who have lost four in a row. Andray Blatche tallied 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Antawn Jamison scored 13 and Nick Young 12.
Brown's long distance shot gave the visitors an 88-85 lead, and Diaw followed with a jumper. The Wizards came right back as Butler made two free throws, and a basket from Blatche inside of a minute made it a one-point margin.
A missed three-pointer by Bell opened the door for the Wizards, but Mike James missed a shot off the glass and Blatche's tip try was off the mark. Charlotte's Emeka Okafor tapped the ball out of bounds, giving the Wizards the ball back with 11.2 seconds left. Young then missed a jumper near the foul line and Felton came up with the loose ball and hit two free throws with 0.6 seconds remaining.
After a timeout, Washington's inbounds pass was tipped away.
The Wizards were ahead by eight points after the opening quarter, but Charlotte was within 49-45 at the half. The Wizards held a 70-69 edge going to the fourth quarter and it remained tight until the end.
Bobcats guard D.J. Augustin left the game with an abdominal strain...Washington shot 52.3 percent from the field, while Charlotte finished at 50.7 percent.
