NBA Game Summary - Memphis at Minnesota

(Wednesday, March 11th)

Final Score: Minnesota 104, Memphis 79

Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Ryan Gomes posted a game-high 25 points to help Minnesota snap its 10-game losing streak with a relatively easy 104-79 drubbing of the Memphis Grizzlies.

Kevin Love logged 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Mike Miller added 18 and 11 against his former mates, as the Timberwolves won at home for the first time since January 25th, a span of 11 games.

"We played the way we were supposed to play," Miller said. "We played good on defense, shared the ball on offense. that's what happens when you do that. You get open shots and its a lot easier when guys get open shots."

O.J. Mayo's 18 points paced Memphis, which has dropped 11 of 12 games overall and four straight to Minnesota. Mike Conley chipped in 17 points in the loss.

The T-Wolves, playing without second leading scorer Randy Foye (ankle), jumped on the Grizzlies early and often. A 10-0 spurt highlighted by a Gomes three- point play and Sebastian Telfair three-pointer aided the hosts' 35-14 edge after one quarter of play.

Memphis slightly chipped away at the deficit to trail 50-40 at the break and were within 73-61 heading to the fourth frame.

Three straight trifectas -- a pair coming from Brian Cardinal -- early in the final stanza highlighted an 11-0 Minnesota run to push the lead to 86-63 three minutes in, and the hosts cruised from there.

"It was the most disappointing loss and game that we've had here," Memphis head coach Lionel Hollins said. "It was embarrassing for me as a coach and I would hope its embarrassing for them as a team."

Game Notes

Marc Gasol and Rudy Gay ended with 14 and 12 points, respectively, for Memphis, which received 10 points and 10 rebounds from Darko Milicic... Cardinal posted 11 points, while Craig Smith recorded 13 points and eight boards for the Wolves, who won the battle on the glass, 48-28.
