NBA Game Summary - Houston at Philadelphia

(Tuesday, January 6th)

Final Score: Philadelphia 104, Houston 96

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Andre Iguodala connected on 12-of-19 from the floor for a game-high 28 points as the Philadelphia 76ers pulled out a 104-96 victory over the injury-plagued Houston Rockets.

Lou Williams and Andre Miller each had eight assists to go with 15 and nine points, respectively, for Philadelphia, which was coming off a tough 1-5 road trip. Willie Green chipped in 14 points, while rookie Marreese Speights finished with 15 points and a team-high eight rebounds in a reserve role.

Houston's Tracy McGrady returned after a one-game absence due to a knee injury, but forwards Ron Artest (ankle) and Shane Battier (foot) missed the game because of their respective ailments.

Luis Scola led six Rockets in double figures with 18 points while pulling down 17 rebounds. McGrady, Yao Ming, Von Wafer and Carl Landry each had 14 points for Houston, which has dropped five straight on the road and six of its last eight overall.

Scola opened the second half scoring with a bucket, but the Sixers proceeded to go on a 19-4 run highlighted by a Samuel Dalembert alley-oop for a 72-61 edge midway through the third.

It was 79-71 in favor of the hosts when the third stanza ended, as Yao spent most of the frame on the bench exhausted from keeping up with the young Sixers.

Philly rattled off a 10-3 run -- aided by six points from Iguodala -- to start the fourth for a 15-point lead.

The Rockets climbed back in it thanks to an 11-2 spurt, and McGrady's layup with two minutes remaining made it a 98-94 contest.

Young came down and missed a jumper, but Speights was there for the putback dunk. McGrady missed a three at the other end and the Rockets failed to hit a field goal the rest of the way to fall short in their comeback attempt.

Houston made eight of its first nine shots, though the Sixers hung tight and trailed 27-24 after the first, and 55-53 at the break.
