Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Amare Stoudemire finished with 23 points and eight rebounds, as the Phoenix Suns posted a 106-98 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.
Shaquille O'Neal added 17 points and nine boards for the Suns, who have won three in a row and four of five. Steve Nash contributed 11 assists to go with nine points in the win, while Jason Richardson ended with 15 points.
Marcus Camby had 23 rebounds and 19 points to pace Los Angeles, but the Clippers lost their sixth consecutive game. LA played without Baron Davis, who has a bruised tailbone.
Eric Gordon scored 21 points in the loss for the Clippers, while Fred Jones added 16 points off the bench.
The Suns used a 12-2 run in the opening quarter to take a 33-15 lead going into the second. The teams mostly traded baskets in the second frame, though Nash drilled a three just before the break to boost Phoenix's advantage to 62-49 going into halftime.
The Clippers managed to get their deficit into single-digits in the third quarter, but a Louis Amundson free throw put the Suns up 83-72 headed into the fourth.
O'Neal opened the final stanza with basket, and after Jones made a shot for the Clippers, Leandro Barbosa made two free throws and Amundson scored. It gave the Suns an 89-74 lead, and their advantage didn't dip below 10 until a Gordon triple capped a 15-3 LA run.
The shot got the Clips within 106-98, but with less than 15 seconds left, LA had run out of time and the Suns held on for the win.
Amundson finished with nine points, and Barbosa had 12...The Suns made 55.4 percent of their shots, but only 17-of-29 (58.6 percent) from the free throw line...The Clippers shot 41.7 percent from the floor.
