NBA Game Summary - Boston at Sacramento
(Sunday, December 28th)
Final Score: Boston 108, Sacramento 63
Sacramento, CA (Sports Network) - Kevin Garnett logged 21 points and 11 rebounds in just 23 minutes of action and the Boston Celtics breezed back into the win column with a resounding 108-63 victory over the Sacramento Kings.
Ray Allen, coming off a seven-point effort against Golden State, shot 7-for-8 from the field en route to 19 points for Boston, which was coming off back-to- back losses for the first time this season. Eddie House and Paul Pierce posted 15 and 13 points, respectively, in the laugher.
John Salmons was the only Kings player in double figures with 11 points, as Sacramento dropped its sixth straight game after shooting a woeful 27.9 percent from the floor.
"Needless to say, that was a lesson well learned from NBA champions," Kings head coach Kenny Natt said. "They came out very hungry after dropping two games obviously and they did what they were supposed to do."
The hosts made a mere six field goals in the first quarter to trail 23-17.
The Kings continued their miserable shooting effort in the second, sinking just 3-for-11 from the field, and Celtics proceeded to take out their frustrations after losing two in a row on the road to the Lakers and Warriors.
Boston started the frame on a 14-4 run -- aided by six points from Allen -- and eventually cruised to a 59-34 advantage at halftime.
Sacramento's first points of the second half came 3 1/2 minutes in on Spencer Hawes' mid-range jumper. Boston had extended the lead to 35 as Garnett had four early points and Allen sank a three-ball.
Garnett scored five straight later in the frame and an Allen bucket gave the visitors a dominating 82-42 margin.
The difference was 84-48 after three periods and there was no chance of the Kings pulling off a miracle comeback.
"I thought our guys came with amazing focus," Celtics head coach Doc Rivers said. "Offensively we had extra passes and defensively we had pretty much everyone focused. I told our guys to just keep their focus."
