NBA Game Summary - LA Clippers at Sacramento

(Friday, February 27th)

Final Score: Sacramento 98, LA Clippers 86

Sacramento, CA (Sports Network) - Kevin Martin scored 20 points and went 4- of-9 from behind the arc to lead the Kings to their fourth straight win over the Los Angeles Clippers and salvage the finale of a three-game homestand with a 98-86 victory at ARCO Arena.

Bobby Jackson chipped in 18 points and Andres Nocioni 17 for Sacramento, which is still 3-17 in its last 20 contests. Francisco Garcia ended with 15 points and six assists in the win.

Baron Davis and Steve Novak had 13 points each for the Clippers, who were coming off their best win of the season -- a 93-91 triumph over the defending NBA champion Boston Celtics.

Zach Randolph notched 11 points and 12 boards for LA, which saw its two-game win streak halted.

The Kings were up 27-18 after the first quarter and on top 52-39 at the intermission.

"They jumped on us," said Davis. "The first quarter they were playing into our hands. Then they went on that run and we were playing catchup ever since. We were not able to establish a lead and get a run. Every time we looked to make a run, they came down and hit a three."

Two free throws from Jason Thompson closed out a 14-7 run that Sacramento used to open the third frame. The burst gave the home team a 66-46 lead with just over seven minutes left.

Sacramento was up 78-60 heading into the fourth.

DeAndre Jordan's dunk and Davis' long-range jumper closed out an 11-5 LA run that pulled the Clips within 83-71 with 9:07 to play.

The Clippers failed to get any closer as the Kings held on for the victory.

"I think we played defense for a longer time," said Nocioni. "We played much better and played with more intensity and had more energy on the defense. This is what we need every night."

Game Notes

LA's star rookie guard Eric Gordon did not play due to a bruised left shoulder...Sacramento point guard Beno Udrih also didn't play because of a sprained right foot...Sacramento has taken all three meetings so far this season over the Clippers.
