(Wednesday, February 25th)

Final Score: Orlando 114, New York 109

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Dwight Howard recorded his 46th double-double of the season with 24 points and 21 rebounds to help the Orlando Magic stave off a furious New York run and edge the Knicks, 114-109, at Madison Square Garden.

Hedo Turkoglu registered a game-best 33 points for the Magic, who have won three of their last four. Rashard Lewis added 17 points while Courtney Lee and Rafer Alston notched 15 points apiece.

Nate Robinson totaled 32 points in 36 minutes off the bench for the Knicks, who came in having won three of four after a six-game slide. Wilson Chandler chipped in 27 points on 6-of-8 three-point shooting and Al Harrington had 26 points in defeat.

David Lee also earned his 46th double-double with 10 points and as many boards. It was also Lee's 21st consecutive double-double.

Down by 10 late in the game, Harrington notched a three-point play to cut the Knicks' deficit to 100-93 with 2:45 showing on the clock.

The home team closed to 108-104 on a three-pointer from Robinson with 31.4 ticks left.

Alston was fouled on Orlando's ensuing possession and hit 1-of-2 before Danilo Gallinari dropped a three from the top of the arc to make it 109-107 with 24.2 seconds remaining.

Alston and Robinson each added two points, and it was 111-109 with 17.8 seconds showing.

After using two timeouts, the Magic finally got the ball in, and Lewis was fouled before hitting both free throws to make it a four-point game, which sealed the win for Orlando.

"We played hard for the most part but they walked away with the win," said Robinson.

The Magic led 25-15 after the first quarter and opened a 57-43 advantage at the break. New York then trailed 81-71 heading into the final 12 minutes.

"We were trying to be aggressive early, to get my team motivated," said Howard. "The way they (Knicks) play is very uptempo, they run a lot, so we tried to spread the floor."

Chandler knocked down a three from the left wing to cut New York's deficit to 88-80 with 7:15 left in the game.

The teams traded baskets and New York's deficit hovered around 10 points, until Chandler hit a three and Harrington knocked down a jumper to make it 94-89 with 3:47 left.

Alston and Lewis then drained threes to bookend a free throw from Robinson, and Orlando was up by 10, 100-90, with just under three minutes left.

Game Notes

The game also showcased the finalists for this year's slam dunk contest, Robinson and Howard. Robinson bested Howard in the All-Star festivity by using the 6-11 center as a prop and leaping over the muscle-bound superstar to take the title. The 5-foot-9 Robinson has carried that momentum in the second half and was averaging 30.0 points over his last six games coming in...The Knicks, who fell to 1-1 on a three-game homestand, will also host Philadelphia and are 17-13 at MSG this season...The Magic are 6-5 in their last 11 games overall and are now 20-9 away from home this season...Orlando and New York met for the first time this season after the Magic went 3-1 in the series a year ago. The Magic have won five of six and nine of the last 13 meetings. The Knicks had won three of the previous five encounters as the host between the teams.
