NBA Game Summary - Memphis at Cleveland

(Tuesday, February 24th)

Final Score: Cleveland 94, Memphis 79

Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - Daniel Gibson scored 19 points off the bench, Maurice Williams added 18 and six assists and Cleveland cruised to a 94-79 victory over Memphis even with a quiet night from LeBron James.

James scored just 15 points with eight assists and five rebounds, taking only 10 shots, while Tarence Kinsey tallied 11 points and J.J. Hickson added 10 points and nine rebounds. The Cavaliers have won five straight overall and seven in a row over Memphis.

"We just have guys step up night in and night out. Whenever a guy goes down or someone's having an off night, we've got to get production somewhere else. Those guys were kind of out of the rotation last game, but tonight T.K. started and J.J. played some big minutes," Cavs head coach Mike Brown said of his role players.

Hakim Warrick and Rudy Gay led four players in double figures with 13 points apiece, Mike Conley notched 12 points and seven assists, while Darrell Arthur collected 12 points as well.

"I'm not down as much because of the loss by 20 points," said Conley. "I think the way we played and (that) we lost by 20 points is not acceptable for us."

The struggling Grizzlies have dropped five in a row.

The Cavaliers were the aggressors from the outset. A 7-2 burst to end the session opened up a 27-16 advantage, as Wally Szczerbiak's layup and a pair of James free throws capped the period.

Gibson went on a personal seven-point spurt to begin the second quarter, ending a 14-2 stretch that spanned both quarters. A pair of buckets in the lane and a three-pointer put the margin at 34-16. The edge grew to 20 points at 46-26 on James' layup just over halfway through the stanza.

The lead stood at 58-36 after 24 minutes of game action. Cleveland maintained its comfortable advantage, 76-56, after three quarters, and the edge grew to 86-63 after a Williams trey and a Gibson jumper during the early stages of the fourth quarter.

Cleveland cruised to victory from there.

Game Notes

The Cavaliers shot 43.1 percent, but lived on the charity stripe (24-of-29) compared to just 11 free throw attempts for the Grizzlies. Memphis made 42 percent of its shots...The Grizzlies have lost five straight in Cleveland.
