NBA Game Summary - LA Lakers at Utah

(Wednesday, February 11th)

Final Score: Utah 113, LA Lakers 109

Salt Lake City, UT (Sports Network) - Mehmet Okur scored 22 points, pulled down eight rebounds and hit the go-ahead three-pointer with 42.8 seconds left, boosting Utah to a 113-109 win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

Deron Williams eclipsed the 30-point barrier for a fifth straight game, finishing with 31 points and 11 assists, as the Jazz won for the fourth time in five contests.

Kobe Bryant tallied 37 points for the Lakers, who had a seven-game win streak broken. Lamar Odom had 19 points and a season-high 19 rebounds.

Despite the loss, the Lakers head to the All-Star break at 42-10, tops in the Western Conference.

Bryant's jumper with just over a minute left tied the game at 107, but Okur drained a high-arching shot from the left wing.

"That's what I was waiting for," said Okur. "I was right there and I was ready. D-Will did a good job. He drove inside and kicked it to me and I was open. I felt good the whole game. I know it was going to come for me so I was ready."

Bryant was then off the mark on a three-point attempt and Williams went 1-of-2 at the charity stripe with 25.1 seconds to go.

Derek Fisher's two free throws had the visitors within 111-109 with 21.9 seconds remaining, but Williams provided a three-point difference just over a second later.

Fisher then missed two chances to tie the game in the waning seconds, with his second three-point try coming up short of the entire basket.

Williams sealed the victory by making a foul shot with a second left.

"They play extremely well here at home," said Bryant. "They always play us tough here. We just didn't play well defensively. We didn't play hard enough defensively. We played lazy."

C.J. Miles added 17 points and Ronnie Brewer 16 for the Jazz, who won at home over the Lakers for the seventh time in the last 10 such meetings. Utah shot 58.6 percent from the field.

Utah carried a 31-29 lead into the second quarter, but the Lakers used a spurt in the second to grab a 57-53 edge. Pau Gasol's layup capped the 8-2 rally and LA went to the half ahead 63-61.

It remained tight throughout the third with the Jazz holding an 87-85 edge moving to the fourth, but Brewer's dunk at the midway point opened a 101-92 home team lead before the Lakers rallied.

Bryant's three-ball gave LA a 105-104 edge with 1:36 left, but Paul Millsap's three-point play nine seconds later gave Utah the lead again.
