NBA Game Summary - Detroit at Charlotte

(Saturday, December 13th)

Final Score: Detroit 90, Charlotte 86

Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - Allen Iverson dropped 20 points and Richard Hamilton 18 as the Detroit Pistons held off a furious fourth-quarter charge from the Charlotte Bobcats to grab a 90-86 win at Time Warner Cable Arena.

Rodney Stuckey hit on 6-of-9 field goals for 13 points and logged a game-high 10 assists to go along with three steals for Detroit, which won its second straight after putting a three-game losing streak to rest Friday against Indiana.

The Pistons also snapped a two-game road losing streak and improved to 7-5 away from the Palace this season -- despite hitting just two field goals in the final quarter.

Gerald Wallace notched a game-high 22 points with nine rebounds and three steals for the Bobcats, who gave a valiant fourth-quarter effort but still dropped their sixth straight.

D.J. Augustin went for 18 points and Raymond Felton 17 as Charlotte's new acquisitions couldn't help halt its losing streak. The Bobcats traded their leading scorer Jason Richardson along with Jared Dudley to the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday for Sean Singletary, Boris Diaw and Raja Bell.

Diaw logged seven points, nine boards and five assists while Bell contributed four points and five rebounds as both were inserted into the starting lineup to make their franchise debuts.

Detroit looked to be cruising to an easy win, holding a 78-56 lead after three quarters but the Bobcats stormed back with a frantic fourth-quarter comeback.

The Pistons started off well enough with a hook shot from Tayshaun Prince and three from the line from Jason Maxiell, the last of which made it an 83-59 game just about three minutes in. However, Detroit went ice cold from the field while Charlotte vaulted themselves back into the game with a 25-2 run throughout the fourth.

A underhand scoop from Felton in the lane rolled off the fingertips for a one- point game, 85-84, with 34.8 remaining. Rasheed Wallace, though, came back and buried a clutch three from the top of the key -- Detroit's first points over an 8:52 span -- to make it a 88-84 game with 10.4 left to play.

Felton drove to the hoop on the other end and tipped in his initial miss to get Charlotte back to within one with 4.8 showing on the clock. Hamilton hit two free throws on the other end, though, and Adam Morrison's three was off the mark, allowing Detroit to hold on for a shaky win.

The Pistons took a 24-13 lead into the second quarter and extended their advantage to 51-33 at the half.
