NBA Game Summary - Charlotte at Utah

(Monday, February 2nd)

Final Score: Utah 105, Charlotte 86

Salt Lake City, UT (Sports Network) - Mehmet Okur poured in a game-best 22 points and Ronnie Brewer added 21, as Utah didn't miss a beat without Deron Williams in a 105-86 rout of Charlotte at EnergySolutions Arena.

Paul Millsap donated 14 points for Utah. Ronnie Price registered 12 points in Williams' absence for the Utah, who had lost five of six entering the contest.

Raymond Felton led a balanced Bobcats attack with 16 points, nine assists and six rebounds, while Emeka Okafor added 15 points and seven boards. Juwan Howard and Raja Bell donated 12 points apiece for the Bobcats, who finished a five-game road trip at 1-4.

"They were much more aggressive than us. They got to the line more than us. Every effort play they made we didn't make," said Charlotte head coach Larry Brown.

The Jazz were without Williams and star forwards Andrei Kirilenko and Carlos Boozer, but it didn't make much of a difference in the second half, in which Utah outscored the Bobcats, 56-35.

"I thought to be able to come away with a win, you never know what to expect with as many guys as we have out," said Utah head coach Jerry Sloan.

Charlotte led 25-19 after one stanza and took a 51-49 edge into the locker room before Utah stormed back on both ends of the floor. Price's jumper with 6:42 left in the third gave the Jazz a 62-60 advantage, and it grew to 76-68 late in the period on another Price jumper.

A 12-4 spurt to start the fourth quarter put the game away. Brewer's jumper and a pair of easy buckets from Jarron Collins made the score 88-74 with 7:14 on the clock.

Utah cruised to victory from there.
