NBA Game Summary - LA Clippers at Philadelphia

(Friday, February 9th)

Final Score: LA Clippers 90, Philadelphia 89

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Sam Cassell scored 22 points off the bench and also dished out six assists as the Los Angeles Clippers rallied late in the second half to defeat Philadelphia, 90-89, at the Wachovia Center.

Cuttino Mobley donated 17 points while Chris Kaman had 15 points and nine rebounds for Los Angeles, which halted a three-game losing streak.

Andre Iguodala netted 22 points and had seven assists and Kyle Korver scored 15 for the Sixers, who had won nine in a row at home versus the Clippers. Six Philadelphia players ended up in double figures including Samuel Dalembert, who had 14 points to go along with 15 boards.

The two teams fought to a 22-22 first-quarter tie and went into the locker room knotted at 41-41, but the Sixers made some headway in the third frame.

The home team put together a 19-4 charge to erase a two-point deficit and assume a 64-51 advantage. Iguodala scored six consecutive points in the burst, and later added a jumper with 3:20 left to push the lead to double digits. Dalembert followed with a turnaround jumper to cap the run.

The Clippers scored the last six points of the third quarter to make it 64-57, however, then fought back to tie the game at 68 early in the fourth following a Cassell three-pointer.

The contest remained tight the rest of the way, and the score sat at 83-83 with 1:43 left after an Andre Miller jump shot. The Sixers appeared poised to go ahead on the ensuing possession, but Dalembert blew a fast-break layup.

Elton Brand's contested shot fell short on the other end, but Shaun Livingston gathered the rebound and nailed a short baseline jumper to give his team the lead with just under a minute to play.

Korver then misfired for the Sixers before Brand came through with a turnaround jumper that upped the advantage to 87-83.

The Sixers trailed by three in the final seconds and had a chance to tie, but Iguodala's attempt fell well short. Dalembert grabbed the misfire and put it in as time expired for the final margin.
