NBA Game Summary - Philadelphia at Charlotte

(Saturday, January 13th)

Final Score: Charlotte 89, Philadelphia 83

Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - Adam Morrison led a balanced Charlotte attack with 17 points off the bench as the Bobcats held on to beat Philadelphia, 89-83.

Derek Anderson added 15 points for the Bobcats, who won a season-high third straight contest. Raymond Felton chipped in with 14 points and nine assists and Sean May finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Willie Green had a game-high 19 points for the lowly Sixers, who have dropped five of their past six games. Kyle Korver tallied 15 points while Samuel Dalembert had 12 points and 15 boards for Philadelphia.

"I just think we didn't shoot well," said Green. "I didn't think we executed as well as we could but we battled back. We just missed some key plays down the stretch."

Charlotte entered the fourth quarter with a five-point lead and continued to hold the Sixers at arm's length until a 6-0 run midway through the frame, punctuated by a Jake Voskuhl slam, gave the Bobcats some significant breathing room, 79-68, with 5:44 left.

The Sixers responded, however, with a 12-0 burst to seize the lead. Andre Miller capped the flurry by finding Dalembert on an alley-oop inbound pass and the Sixers led 80-79 with 3:09 remaining.

Less than a minute later, Emeka Okafor stopped the bleeding with a pair of free throws to put Charlotte right back on top, 81-80.

The Sixers couldn't answer this time and the Bobcats extended their edge to five with a pair of free throws by Matt Carroll and a beautiful fadeaway jumper by Felton to make it 85-80 with 1:09 on the clock.

"All wins are not always pretty," said Felton. "We got it done though. It's three in a row and we are trying to keep it going."

Philadelphia never threatened in the final minute.

The Bobcats used a stifling defense to take a 23-14 edge after the opening 12 minutes and continued to play frontrunner through intermission, 42-34.

The Sixers continued to play poorly early in the third quarter and fell behind 53-38 when Primoz Brezec buried a jumper with under 10 minutes to go in the frame.

But, Philadelphia answered with an 11-0 run, highlighted by three Green buckets, that drew the Sixers to within four, 53-49, with 6:09 left in the third quarter.

The Bobcats settled down from there and took a 67-62 edge into the final frame.
