T-Wolves suspend Jefferson after arrest

Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - The Minnesota Timberwolves suspended power forward Al Jefferson for two games following his arrest early Sunday morning.

Jefferson, according to the Star Tribune, was arrested and booked into jail for allegedly driving drunk just hours after Minnesota lost to Portland at home.

"On behalf of the Timberwolves organization, we are disappointed that Al used poor judgment last night," David Kahn, the team's president for basketball operations, said in a statement. "Having spoken to Al, I can assure everybody associated with our franchise that Al understands this is a matter of the utmost seriousness. He feels terrible about what occurred and I believe him when he says he will learn from his mistake."

The 25-year-old Jefferson is averaging 17.1 points and 9.3 rebounds this season, his sixth in the league.
