Grizzlies pick up crucial win over Nuggets
Memphis, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Marc Gasol scored 24 points and Zach Randolph added 20 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Memphis Grizzlies to a 100-92 win over the Denver Nuggets on Friday.
Mike Conley added 21 points while Tayshaun Prince and Courtney Lee chipped in with 12 and 10 points, respectively, for the Grizzlies, who have won two of their last three and currently are currently tied with the Dallas Mavericks for the seventh spot in the Western Conference.
Both Memphis and Dallas lead the Phoenix Suns by one-half game for the final two playoff spots. Phoenix and Dallas are both in action later on Friday.
Randy Foye scored 21 points, Kenneth Faried had 17 points and 12 rebounds and Ty Lawson finished with 16 points off the bench for the Nuggets, losers in five of their last six games.
Lawson left the game with just over three minutes left in the contest after turning his ankle after stepping on Memphis guard Mike Conley's foot while driving to the basket.
Lawson fell to the ground in pain, but remained in the game to attempt a pair of free throws. After hitting the second, Denver quickly fouled the Grizzlies and Lawson limped off the court and to the locker room.
