Magic pick up road win against Golden State
Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - J.J. Redick netted 17 of his 22 points in the second half on Monday night, as the Orlando Magic bested the Golden State Warriors, 102-94, at Oracle Arena.
Glen Davis and Arron Afflalo poured in 24 points apiece, while Nikola Vucevic donated 14 points and 15 rebounds for the Magic, who have won the first two games of their current five-game West Coast swing.
Stephen Curry recorded a double-double with 25 points and 11 assists and David Lee chipped in 22 points and nine boards in the setback, snapping Golden State's three-game win streak.
With the game locked at 72-72 two minutes into the fourth, E'Twaun Moore buried a 3-pointer to spark a 10-2 Magic surge, which Redick capped with a triple to make it 82-74 with 7 1/2 minutes left in the game.
Curry quelled the run with a trey of his own, but Davis converted a three- point play at the other end to press the margin back to eight.
Orlando would hold the Warriors at bay from there, never allowing the home team to get closer than eight the rest of the way en route to the victory.
Early on, Golden State led by as many as six late in the first after Carl Landry capped a 6-0 surge with a jumper, but the Magic scored the final seven points of the stanza to take a 28-27 edge into the second.
Neither team led by more than six in a tightly contest second quarter, as Jameer Nelson nailed a late 3-pointer to send the Magic into the locker room clinging to a 51-47 advantage.
Orlando looked poised to distance itself late in the third after Redick netted seven straight points in a 9-0 Magic run, but the Warriors closed the quarter with a swift 6-0 surge to send the game into the fourth knotted at 69-69.
The Warriors had won five in a row at home ... Landry finished with nine points and 10 boards off the bench ... Orlando turned 14 Golden State turnovers into 23 points ... The Warriors tied a season high with five blocks.
