Description: Colorado infielder Josh Rutledge has been demoted to Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Insight: It's the second time he's been sent down this season. We'll probably see Rutledge again in September when the rosters expand.

Cold7/7/2013 1:06:00 PM
Description: Rockies infielder Josh Rutledge is hitless in 11 at bats against Diamondbacks lefty Patrick Corbin.
Insight: Add that to the 3-for-17 slump he's in and you've got one pretty unappealing fantasy second baseman. Hopefully Rutledge isn't in your team's plans for Sunday.

6/15/2013 9:00:00 PM
Description: Rockies shortstop Josh Rutledge went 0-for-6 with two strikeouts Saturday versus Philadelphia.
Insight: On a day when Colorado had 18 hits, four walks and 10 runs, Rutledge's output is simple unacceptable. He has a prime opportunity while Troy Tulowitzki is out with a broken rib, but he'll need to avoid days like this if he wants to stay in the majors.

6/14/2013 6:18:00 PM
Description: The Rockies have called up infielder Josh Rutledge from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Insight: He's starting at second base Friday versus Philadelphia. He should see regular at bats while Troy Tulowitzki is out with a broken rib.

Cold5/22/2013 9:50:00 PM
Description: Colorado second baseman Josh Rutledge has been optioned to Triple-A, according to Troy Renck of the Denver Post.
Insight: Rutledge has failed to get it going this season and is hitting just .242. He does have five homers, five steals and 26 runs, so he was a decent fantasy option, but the Rockies want him to work on his hitting in the minors. Light-hitting D.J. LeMahieu will take over as the starting second baseman.

Cold5/20/2013 11:13:00 AM
Description: Colorado second baseman Josh Rutledge is hitless in eight at-bats versus Diamondbacks starter patrick Corbin with four strikeouts.
Insight: Rutledge was expected to provide solid production for a second baseman after a good second half last season (.274, 8 HR, 37 RBI, .775 OPS in 277 at-bats), but he's not been able to produce at that level. Through the first 40 games of 2013 he's batting .247 with five homers, 13 RBI and a .676 OPS. Avoid this matchup.

5/18/2013 10:55:00 AM
Description: Colorado second baseman Josh Rutledge is just a .154 hitter (2-for-13) versus Giants starter Tim Lincecum.

4/18/2013 8:50:00 PM
Description: Colorado second baseman Josh Rutledge is only batting .222 this season, but he has two homers, four steals and 15 runs in 14 games. He went 1-for-2 with a solo homer and two walks Thursday against the Mets.
Insight: Rutledge has primarily hit second in the order this season in front of Carlos Gonzalez and Troy Tulowitzki, which gives him an opportunity to score plenty of runs. But his batting average will remain low if he doesn't get both the 68.3 percent groundball rate and the 19.7 percent strikeout rate down.

8/27/2012 7:43:00 PM
Description: Colorado shortstop Josh Rutledge is out for Monday night's game against the Dodgers. He's still struggling with an injured quadriceps.
Insight: Rutledge (.338, 7 HR, 25 RBI) hasn't started in over a week, though he has pinch-hit in each of the Rockies' last six games.

8/26/2012 1:45:00 PM
Description: Colorado shortstop Josh Rutledge won't be in the lineup Sunday against Chicago. He's still dealing with a left quadriceps injury.
Insight: Rutledge (.341, 7 HR, 25 RBI) blasted a home run Saturday in a pinch-hitting appearance. It shouldn't be too long before we see him back in the starting lineup.

8/22/2012 10:51:00 AM
Description: Rockies shortstop Josh Rutledge (strained left quadriceps) pinch hit on Tuesday night, his first at bat in a couple of days due to injury. He's listed as questionable for Wednesday.
Insight: Rutledge has started off his major league career with a .331 average, six homers, 22 RBIs, four steals and a .954 OPS in 31 games. He should be owned in all leagues at least until he comes back to earth.

8/13/2012 6:50:00 PM
Description: Rockies shortstop Josh Rutledge (quad) is not in the lineup Monday due to soreness in his left quadriceps.
Insight: Rutledge has started off his major league career with a .327 average, six homers, 20 RBIs, four steals and a .969 OPS in 26 games. He should be owned in all leagues, even if he's unlikely to keep this up.

8/6/2012 9:48:00 PM
Description: Rockies shortstop Josh Rutledge is getting the night off Monday against Los Angeles.
Insight: Rutledge is just 1-for-13 (.077) in his last three games after going 13-for-31 (.419) in his previous seven games.

Hot8/3/2012 4:18:00 PM
Description: Colorado shortstop Josh Rutledge made his debut on July 13 against Philadelphia going 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI and a stolen base and hasn't stopped hitting for three weeks.
Insight: Rutledge is batting .375 with five homers, 14 RBI and a 1.109 OPS through 18 games. He was a career .320 hitter in the minors with a solid .870 OPS, so it's possible that he'll end up being a decent fantasy middle infielder. If Troy Tulowitzki returns this year Rutledge has played some at second base in the minors as well.
