10/15/2012 10:45:00 AM
Description: San Francisco utility man Ryan Theriot has yet to start a game in the postseason, but if every there was a time it will be Monday against the Cardinals' Chris Carpenter. Theriot is a career .467 hitter (7-for-15) with a 1.167 OPS against the St. Louis right-hander.
Insight: Theriot is 0-for-2 with a walk in three postseason at-bats. He batted .270 during the regular season, but with little power (.637 OPS).
7/4/2012 11:05:00 AM
Description: San Francisco second baseman Ryan Theriot is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against Washington. No injury, just a day of rest.
Insight: Theriot has done little this season to warrant fantasy attention. His being out of the lineup shouldn't cause any fantasy lineups to change.
5/29/2012 11:01:00 AM
Description: San Francisco second baseman Ryan Theriot, just back from a stint on the disabled list, is a career .667 hitter (6-for-9) against Diamondbacks starter Joe Saunders.
Insight: Theriot could be worth a one-day start and is available in most fantasy leagues. He was a useful fantasy middle infielder in his days with the Cubs, but hasn't done much since 2009 to warrant fantasy attention.
5/24/2012 2:56:00 PM
Description: Ryan Theriot (inflamed elbow) was activated from the disabled list on Thursday.
Insight: Theriot is currently available in 99.8 percent of ESPN fantasy leagues. There is a reason for that: he's hitting .179 with no homers and 2 RBIs.
7/21/2011 10:57:00 AM
Description: Ryan Theriot will miss Thursday's game against the Mets because of a one-game suspension. Daniel Descalso will start at short. SOURCE: Derrick Goold on Twitter
Insight: Theriot has done a nice job for the Cardinals at the top of the lineup, but he's not as versatile as some of the other leadoff men in the game. Therefore, he is a low-end option in mixed leagues.
5/4/2011 2:27:00 PM
Description: Cardinals manager Tony La Russa feels SS Ryan Theriot's offensive contributions (.317 average) far outweigh his defense ( 8 errors) and said there was no reason to move Theriot to second base, where he has played before. SOURCE: St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Insight: Eight errors...Theriot stays put. One blown save, out with Mitchell Boggs! Fantasy owners wish that LaRuss was as committed to a closer as he appears to be to his shortstop.
11/30/2010 5:01:00 PM
Description: The Cardinals have acquired Theriot from the Dodgers in exchange for P Blake Hawksworth.
Insight: Theriot became expendable in Los Angeles with the pending signing of Juan Uribe, and could become the Cardinals' starting second baseman. He hit .270 with 20 stolen bases for the Cubs and Dodgers this past season. (RapidDraft.com)
11/30/2010 4:13:00 PM
Description: The Dodgers have traded Ryan Theriot to the Cardinals. SOURCE: Jon Morosi via Twitter
Insight: Anybody hitting in front of Pujols and Holliday will get the chance to score runs so this is a good move for Theriot, if he is a starter for the Cards.
9/1/2010 10:52:00 AM
Description: Ryan Theriot expects to be in today's starting lineup against the Phillies. He has been dealing with a minor knee injury. SOURCE: LA Times
Insight: It does not seem like the injury will keep him out for too long and hopefully it doesn't, because he was swinging the bat pretty well before the injury. He's not going to wow anyone with anything, but can be a nice add in mixed leagues.

Description: Theriot went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and three runs scored against the Angels on Sunday.

6/7/2010 9:45:00 PM
Description: Theriot went 2-for-3 with a double, two stolen bases and four runs scored against the Pirates on Monday.
Insight: Theriot has lost playing time recently, so a game like this certainly can't hurt him. He is hitting .286 with 11 stolen bases this season. (SportsBuff.com)
6/1/2010 9:39:00 AM
Description: Theriot was not in the Cubs' starting lineup on Monday against the Pirates.
Insight: Theriot did eventually come into the game, but since his batting average has dropped from .317 to .285 since May 19 and Cubs' manager Lou Piniellas has suggested he'd like to get Mike Fontenot more playing time. With Starlin Castro at SS, Theriot looks like the likely odd-man out right now in the Cubs' middle infield. (SportsBuff.com)
5/19/2010 9:38:00 AM
Description: Theriot (left elbow) returned to the lineup on Tuesday night and went 2-for-5 with two RBI against Colorado.
Insight: Theriot is hitting .319 and should be a solid middle infield option as long as he can be healthy. (SportsBuff.com)
