Description: Pittsburgh left-hander Wandy Rodriguez won his second straight start Wednesday night by holding Milwaukee to one run on six hits in seven innings.
Insight: Rodriguez is allowing line drives at a rate of 16.3 percent, the lowest of his career, but in turn he has given up a higher rate of flyballs and HR/FB. Homers don't count towards BABIP, so that explains why Rodriguez has a low BABIP of .233. He's not as much of a regression candidate as you would think, because as his BABIP goes up, you have to figure his 1.62 HR/9 will dip. His career HR/9 is 1.03.

Hot4/24/2013 11:35:00 AM
Description: Pittsburgh left-hander Wandy Rodriguez was masterful in his last outing, surrendering just one hit over seven innings.
Insight: His strikeout-to-walk ratio is off the charts right now (11-to-1) and he faces a Philadelphia Phillies team which is scuffling for runs. Rodriguez is owned in less than 65-percent of all Yahoo leagues and could be an excellent waiver claim.

Hot4/19/2013 10:26:00 PM
Description: Pittsburgh lefty Wandy Rodriguez was dominant Friday against the Braves.
Insight: He surrendered just one hit over seven shutout innings. Rodriguez has given up just five hits and one earned run in his first three starts. His strikeout to walk ratio is off the charts right now (11 to 1).

4/10/2013 6:13:00 PM
Description: Pirates lefty Wandy Rodriguez (left hamstring strain) is "not likely" to make his next scheduled start Sunday, according to Tom Singer of MLB.com.
Insight: Rodriguez was removed from Monday's start in the third inning. Top prospect Gerrit Cole is not an option to be called up.

4/9/2013 4:06:00 PM
Description: Pirates lefty Wandy Rodriguez has been diagnosed with tightness in his left hamstring, according to Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
Insight: Rodriguez was removed from Monday's start in the third inning. He'll be reevaluated Tuesday.

4/3/2013 10:15:00 PM
Description: Wandy Rodriguez's season debut was a success. In 6 2/3 innings Wednesday against Chicago, Rodriguez allowed just two hits on 103 pitches.
Insight: Wandy struck out six in the shutout win. He's finished with an ERA under four in each of his last five seasons. Why not make it five in a row? If Rodriguez continues to pitch the way he did Wednesday, he should be well on his way.

9/15/2012 6:43:00 PM
Description: Wandy Rodriguez is 4-4 with a 3.36 ERA and a 1.27 ERA since joining the Pirates.
Insight: In other words, exactly what you paid for. Rodriguez (11-13, 3.65 ERA, 1.27 WHIP) has posted an ERA in the threes and a WHIP between 1.20 and 1.31 in each of the last four seasons and he's headed there again.

7/29/2012 10:37:00 AM
Description: Wandy Rodriguez allowed six hits and three runs over six innings of work Saturday in his first start as a member of the Pirates.
Insight: Rodriguez (7-9, 3.82 ERA) didn't look all that sharp Saturday (five walks) but luckily he was pitching against a punchless Astros lineup that couldn't take advantage of his mistakes. Rodriguez will take the mound again Friday in Cincinnati.

7/26/2012 8:37:00 PM
Description: Newly acquired lefthander Wandy Rodriguez will make his Pirates debut Saturday night against his former team, the Houston Astros.
Insight: Erik Bedard (5-11, 4.32 ERA) was supposed to start on Saturday but now it looks like he'll be moved back to Sunday. Kevin Correia (8-6, 4.24) has been moved to the bullpen to make room for Rodriguez (7-9, 3.79).

7/24/2012 9:29:00 PM
Description: According to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com, the Astros have traded left-hander Wandy Rodriguez to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Insight: The Astros are trying to stock up prospects and the Pirates are in the hunt for the NL Central this season. This is the best possible move for the lefty's fantasy value, as he'll stay in the division, join a better ballclub and move to the third best pitcher's park in baseball (per MLB Park Factor).

6/19/2012 10:35:00 AM
Description: Houston starter Wandy Rodriguez may have won three of his last five starts and two in a row, but he's not pitching particularly well in that span with a 5.72 ERA and a 1.659 WHIP.
Insight: Rodriguez has benefitted from the Astros' timely offense which has averaged seven runs a game in his last five starts. Houston averages 4.28 runs-per-game so his good fortune may not last.

Hot5/13/2012 5:53:00 PM
Description: Wandy Rodriguez tossed eight innings of one-run ball against the Pirates on Sunday. He allowed just three hits, dropping his ERA to 1.99 and his WHIP to 0.99. However, he was unable to get his fourth win due to Brett Myers' blown save.
Insight: Rodriguez (3-3) continues to shut down opponents. He's thrown two straight eight-inning starts and has one of the top ERAs in the National League through eight starts.

Hot4/22/2012 5:49:00 PM
Description: Wandy Rodriguez pitched brilliantly again on Sunday and finally was able to get some run support, earning his first win of the season as the Astros beat Los Angeles, 12-0.
Insight: Rodriguez shut out the Dodgers for seven innings on Sunday, giving up three hits and three walks while striking out six. His ERA stands at 1.42 after four starts.

4/6/2012 10:22:00 PM
Description: Wandy Rodriguez threw 6 1/3 innings on Opening Day, giving up three unearned runs and striking out two.
Insight: Houston made four errors to spoil a nice start by Rodriguez. Wandy has registered an ERA under four in each of the last four seasons, so you know what you're going to get with him. Just don't expect many wins considering the team he has behind him.

3/28/2012 4:12:00 PM
Description: Wandy Rodriguez will be the Astros' starting pitcher when they take on the Rockies next week on Opening Day.
Insight: Rodriguez's performance (11-11, 3.49 ERA) was one of the only bright spots for Houston last year. There's no guarantee his win/loss record will improve and he's had a rocky spring (2-2, 7.88 ERA) but he's the best Houston's got and that has to mean something. Whether that means that Rodriguez is a good pitcher or just that the Astros aren't very good remains to be seen.

8/22/2011 12:18:00 PM
Description: Houston Astros' pitcher Wandy Rodriguez is likely to clear waivers this week.
Insight: Rodriguez has a huge price tag which will ward discourage most teams, but if he gets traded to a contender he could post solid numbers down the stretch. Over his last three starts he's 2-1 with an ERA of 0.90 and a WHIP of 1.05.

8/3/2011 2:03:00 PM
Description: Houston Astros pitcher Wandy Rodriguez is questionable to make his next scheduled start.
Insight: Rodriguez is a good pitcher stuck on a bad team which limits his fantasy value. He's got a solid ERA of 3.69 and WHIP 1.299, but has just seven wins this season.

5/28/2011 7:39:00 AM
Description: Astros starter Wandy Rodriguez will undergo a precautionary MRI on Saturday because of discomfort in his left elbow Friday. SOURCE: Yahoo Sports
Insight: Rodriguez will miss at least one start but do not be surprised if a DL stint will be coming; if you own Rodriguez bench him until the Astros release more info.
