Boston Red Sox (35-42) at Seattle Mariners (41-36), 10:10 p.m.

Probable Starting Pitchers: Boston - Jake Peavy (1-5, 4.52) Seattle - Erasmo Ramirez (1-4, 4.62)

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Seattle Mariners aim to stay on track and will shoot for a series win over the Boston Red Sox Tuesday in the middle portion of a three-game series from Safeco Field.

The Mariners have won four in a row and seven of their last nine games, including Monday's 12-3 pounding of the visiting Red Sox. Mariners ace Felix Hernandez improved to 9-2 on the season and allowed two runs in seven innings with six strikeouts and no walks.

Hernandez benefited from an offensive outburst and was pleased afterward.

"I was so happy. They really came through," Hernandez said of the run support.

Logan Morrison went 4-for-4 with two home runs, three runs scored and four RBI, Endy Chavez tripled and finished with three RBI and Kyle Seager chipped in three hits, two runs batted in and scored three times for Seattle, which recorded a 14-7 advantage in hits.

Red Sox starting pitcher John Lackey was also aiming for his ninth win, but was dealt the loss for surrendering seven runs and seven hits in just 3 2/3 innings. Chris Capuano gave up five runs in relief.

"I felt pretty good the first couple innings," Lackey said. "Struggled obviously in the fourth inning, wasn't able to make a pitch to get out of there."

Mike Napoli homered and David Ortiz drove in a run for Boston, which is 1-4 on a 10-game road trip and will also visit the New York Yankees for three games.

The Red Sox will take their swings Tuesday against Mariners right-hander Erasmo Ramirez and he is 1-4 with a 4.62 ERA. Ramirez is winless (0-4) in his last four decisions, but hasn't allowed a run in his last 16 2/3 innings. He threw six scoreless innings for a no-decision in last Thursday's 4-1 loss at San Diego.

Ramirez has no record and an 8.59 ERA in two career starts against the Red Sox and is 3-0 with a 3.74 ERA against teams from the AL East.

Boston will send Jake Peavy to the mound Tuesday and he is 1-5 with a 4.52 earned run average. Peavy hasn't won since April 25 at Toronto and is 0-5 with a 5.34 ERA in his last 10 appearances with the Red Sox going 2-8 in that span.

The right-handed Peavy is 1-3 in seven road starts this season and 5-2 with a 3.03 ERA in 10 career starts against the Mariners.

This series marks the first meeting of the season between Seattle and Boston. The Red Sox went 6-1 in the 2013 series with the Mariners.
