(Sports Network) - Patrick Corbin tries to stay undefeated on the season Monday when the Miami Marlins begin a three-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field.
Corbin has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this season, going 9-0 with a 2.28 ERA, while holding the opposition to just a .224 clip. He's also allowed just four homers in 86 2/3 innings.
Arizona has won all 13 games he's started.
Corbin, though, has not received a decision in his last two starts and was not at his best his last time out in Los Angeles. The Dodgers reached him for four runs and eight hits in five innings, but escaped without a decision in his team's 8-6 win.
He's pitched to a 4.44 ERA in his last four starts.
Corbin has faced the Marlins just once and allowed three runs and eight hits in 5 2/3 innings in a 9-5 road win April 30, 2012.
Arizona could use a big start from Corbin on Monday after the Diamondbacks were swept this weekend by the San Diego Padres, managing just six runs in the whitewash.
Still, the Diamondbacks hold a half-game lead over the Colorado Rockies for first place in the National League West.
"We got outplayed in every aspect of the game in this series," said manager Kirk Gibson, whose club lost four straight April 29-May 3. "We have to redeem ourselves."
A visit from the major league worst Miami may just be what the doctor ordered, but the Marlins come into this set riding high after taking two of three from the best team in baseball, the St. Louis Cardinals.
"We didn't see it. The team we saw is hitting the ball and making good pitches," Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said. "Regardless of what their record shows, they've got some talent, and they're going about things the right way right now."
Hoping to keep the Marlins rolling on Monday will be righty Jacob Turner, who is 1-0 wit a 1.80 ERA. Turner did not get a decision on Tuesday against Milwaukee, but allowed four runs (3 earned) and five hits in seven innings.
Turner lost his only other start to the Diamondbacks.
Arizona took two of three from the Marlins earlier in the season.
