Flushing, NY (Sports Network) - Allen Craig knocked in the eventual deciding run in the eighth and Adam Wainwright tossed seven scoreless innings to beome the first 10-game winner in the majors, as St. Louis emerged with a 2-1 win over the New York Mets in the rubber match of a three-game series.
Wainwright (10-3) allowed just four hits and two walks while fanning six, but Edward Mujica made things interesting in the ninth before picking up his 19th save.
Matt Carpenter's RBI triple accounted for the other run as the Cardinals won for the fifth time in their last seven.
Marlon Byrd's ninth-inning solo shot was all the offense for the Mets, while Matt Harvey (5-1) was the hard-luck loser after giving up a run on five hits with seven strikeouts over his seven-inning outing.
