Final Score: New York 4, Atlanta 3
Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Matt Harvey's 13-strikeout performance ended a bit shaky, but Bobby Parnell escaped trouble and notched a four-out save to secure the New York Mets' 4-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves in the opener of a day-night doubleheader at Turner Field. Harvey (6-1), who earned his first win since May 17, took a no-hit bid into the seventh inning. The Mets' ace set a new career high in punchouts, but was eventually charged with three runs on three hits and three walks over seven-plus innings of work. John Buck homered and Marlon Byrd, Jordany Valdespin and Omar Quintanilla each knocked in a run to back Harvey. Parnell struck out Chris Johnson in the eighth with the bases loaded before working a scoreless ninth to earn his 10th save. Atlanta, which rallied in the ninth for a 2-1 win in Monday's series opener, lost its three-game win streak. Jordan Schafer drove in a pair of runs and Jason Heyward contributed an RBI double to the Braves' three-run eighth inning. Atlanta starter Alex Wood (0-1) went three innings and gave up one run in his first major league start.
