San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - The San Diego Padres recalled pitcher Pat Neshek and catcher Luis Martinez from Triple-A Tucson on Tuesday.
In addition, the team optioned catcher Kyle Phillips to Tucson and placed pitcher Ernesto Frieri on the paternity leave list.
Neshek will be making his third stint with the club this season and has gone 1-1 with a 3.52 earned run average over 23 games.
Martinez, 26, is in his first campaign in the majors and is making his second appearance. He made his MLB debut on July 15 against San Francisco. In Tucson, he is batting .327 with one home run and 21 RBI.
Frieri is 1-2 with a 3.30 ERA over 43 appearances out of the bullpen this season.
Phillips is batting just .171 with two homers and 10 RBI over 36 games in the 2011 campaign.
