Brewers bring back Counsell, sign RHP Green

Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - The Milwaukee Brewers re-signed infielder Craig Counsell to a one-year contract and also inked right-handed pitcher Sean Green to a one-year deal on Wednesday.

On a one-year deal in 2010, Counsell hit .250 with two home runs and 21 RBI in 102 games.

In 15 seasons with the Rockies, Marlins, Dodgers, Diamondbacks and Brewers, Counsell has a .257 batting average with 41 homers and 381 RBI in 1,517 games.

Counsell, 40, won a World Series ring in 1997 with Florida and in 2001 with Arizona, scoring the wining run in Game 7 both times.

Green spent last season with the Mets, failing to record a decision in 11 games with a 3.86 earned-run average over 9 1/3 innings. He was sidelined for most of the year with a right intercostal muscle strain.

Over five major league seasons with Seattle and New York, the 31-year-old native of Louisville is 10-11 with a 4.36 ERA in 250 appearances.
