A's agree to terms with Carson, Bonser opts for free agency

Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - The Oakland Athletics agreed to terms on a one- year contract with outfielder Matt Carson on Tuesday.

Carson was outrighted to Triple-A Sacramento along with pitcher Boof Bonser, who opted instead to test free agency.

Carson appeared in 36 games with Oakland this season and batted .177 with four home runs and nine RBI.

Bonser began last season with the Red Sox, but was designated for assignment on June 18 and was signed to a minor league contract by Oakland on July 3.

In 13 appearances with Oakland out of the bullpen, he went 1-0 with a 5.09 earned run average.
