Indians ship Wood to Yankees

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - The Cleveland Indians sent relief pitcher Kerry Wood to the New York Yankees on Saturday for a player to be named later or cash.

This is the second deal between the clubs in as many days after the Yankees acquired outfielder Austin Kearns on Friday.

Wood was activated from the 15-day disabled list on Saturday and has struggled in 2010, going 1-4 with a career-worst 6.30 earned run average in only 23 games. He is under contract through the 2010 season with a club option for 2011.

Wood spent the first 10 seasons of his career with the Cubs before joining the Indians following the 2008 campaign. In 357 games, including 178 starts, Wood is 81-68 with a 3.71 ERA and 62 saves.
