New York, NY (Sports Network) - Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp has been selected as the National League Player of the Week for the period ending May 4.
Kemp batted .407 with four doubles and led the National League with 11 runs batted in last week. He also stole a league-best six bases and tied for the NL lead with 11 hits.
The 23-year-old right fielder hit safely in all six games, and recorded four multi-hit games and three multi-RBI games last week, earning his first weekly honor.
Other nominees for the weekly award included San Francisco's Aaron Rowand, who batted .478 with two homers; San Diego's Adrian Gonzalez, who hit .385 with four home runs; and Pittsburgh's Xavier Nady, who batted .450 with seven runs batted in.
