Boston, MA (Sports Network) - Jonny Gomes' two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth rescued Andrew Bailey and sent the Boston Red Sox to a 3-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays in the second half of a doubleheader, while David Ortiz registered three RBI and Jacoby Ellsbury scored three runs and finished a home run shy of the cycle, as Boston took a 5-1 victory in the opener.

Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - The Cleveland Indians used a three-run eighth inning to beat the Kansas City Royals, 4-3, in the second tilt of a three-game series at Progressive Field. With Cleveland down 3-1, Ryan Raburn drew a walk against Kelvin Herrera (3-5) to start the eighth and advanced to second on a ground out. Michael Bourn then hit a single just fair down the third-base line to score Raburn. Mike Aviles followed with a single and Jason Kipnis connected on a double to left to tie the game. After an intentional walk, Michael Brantley hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Aviles and put the Indians ahead. Vinnie Pestano was able to get Eric Hosmer to ground out with the bases loaded to end the game. Two batters prior, Mike Moustakas was caught between third and home on a Alcides Escobar single that could have tied the game. Cody Allen (2-0) earned the win despite allowing a run in the top of the eighth. Hosmer and Salvador Perez each recorded an RBI for the Royals, who will attempt to win a fifth consecutive series in Wednesday's finale. Royals starter Ervin Santana surrendered just one run on three hits with six strikeouts in seven innings. He has worked at least seven innings in his last seven outings. Ubaldo Jimenez yielded two runs on two hits with four walks over 5 2/3 frames for the Indians, who have won five of their last seven.

Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Adam Jones clubbed a three-run home run to help the Baltimore Orioles take a 5-2 win over the Detroit Tigers in the second of a three-game set. J.J. Hardy hit a two-run home run while Zach Britton (1-1) gave up a run on five hits with three walks over 5 1/3 innings for the Orioles, who have won four of six. Justin Verlander (8-5) had won his previous four decisions, but gave up all five runs on seven hits over five innings to take the loss. Matt Tuiasosopo hit a solo home run and Austin Jackson drove in the other run for the Tigers, who had won three of four coming in.

Arlington, TX (Sports Network) - Brandon Moss and John Jaso each hit solo home runs to support seven sharp innings from Jarrod Parker in the Oakland Athletics' 6-2 victory over the Texas Rangers. The A's tagged Yu Darvish for a season-high five runs permitted by the Texas ace, with Moss adding a triple while scoring twice and Eric Sogard and Josh Donaldson contributing an RBI apiece. Darvish (7-3) struck out 10 over six innings to run his MLB- leading total to 137, but surrendered four earned runs and had his winless streak extended to six straight starts. Parker (6-6) was considerably more effective, limiting the Rangers' struggling offense to three hits and a pair of runs to help Oakland bounce back from Monday's 8-7 loss in the opener of this four-game set. The Rangers, on the other hand, have now dropped seven of eight and mustered two runs or less in each of those defeats. A.J. Pierzynski provided Texas' lone offensive bright spot with a two-run single in the third inning.

Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Ryan Doumit delivered a go-ahead two-out, two-run double in the eighth inning to help the Minnesota Twins beat the Chicago White Sox, 7-5, in the opener of a three-game set at Target Field. After Clete Thomas drew a walk and Joe Mauer singled, Doumit doubled to center off Ramon Troncoso (0-2) to bring in the winning run. Mauer finished 3-for-5 with a home run, double and two RBI while Trevor Plouffe contributed two runs driven in as well. Jared Burton (1-4) allowed Chicago to tie the game in the eighth but picked up the win. Glen Perkins earned his 17th save of the season facing the minimum in the ninth. Paul Konerko went 4-for-4 and Conor Gillaspie hit a two-run homer for the White Sox, who have dropped 13 of their last 15 on the road since May 18.

Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Kendrys Morales drove in the winning run in the 10th inning to lead the Seattle Mariners in a 3-2 win over the LA Angels of Anaheim in the second of a four-game set. With two outs in the 10th, Kyle Seager smoked a pitch off Garrett Richards (2-4) that just stayed fair down the right field line and he pulled up at second base for a double. Morales followed with a liner that just went off the glove of Erick Aybar at short, landing in shallow center to score Seager for a 3-2 lead. Raul Ibanez and Justin Smoak homered for the Mariners, who snapped a two-game losing streak. Jeremy Bonderman went six innings in the start and gave up just one run on six hits with three walks. Charlie Furbush (1-3) got the final out of the ninth to pick up the win. Albert Pujols and Mark Trumbo homered for the Angels, who had won four of five coming in. Joe Blanton tied a season-high with 11 strikeouts and gave up two runs, both homers, on six hits over 6 2/3 innings.

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Edwin Encarnacion went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI and J.P. Arencibia added three hits, including a homer, and drove in a pair of runs as the Toronto Blue Jays pounded the Colorado Rockies, 8-3, in the middle test of a three-game set at Rogers Centre. Maicer Izturis added a solo homer and Adam Lind drove in a run and scored once for the Blue Jays, winners in seven straight games. Esmil Rogers (3-2), who carried a no hitter into the sixth inning, gave up three runs -- two earned -- on four hits while striking out five over 6 2/3 innings. Wilin Rosario and Nolan Arenado had one RBI apiece for the Rockies, losers in five of their last seven games. Jeff Francis (3-2) was charged with all eight runs on 10 hits over six frames.

Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Matt Dominguez went 2-for-3 with a grand slam and five RBI, while Jordan Lyles worked seven strong innings as the Houston Astros pounded the Milwaukee Brewers, 10-1, in the opener of a three-game set. Lyles (4-1) gave up one run on seven hits while striking out five. He has won each of his last three decisions and hasn't lost since May 12. Carlos Pena hit a two-run homer and finished with three RBI, while Chris Carter and Marwin Gonzalez knocked in a run apiece for the Astros, who have won five of their last six games. Scooter Gennett drove in the lone run for the Brewers, losers in four of their last six. Alfredo Figaro (1-1) was tagged with the loss after giving up five runs -- four earned -- on five hits over 4 1/3 innings.

Bronx, NY (Sports Network) - Tuesday's game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees has been postponed due to rain. The contest will be made up on Wednesday at 1 p.m. (ET) as part of a split doubleheader, with the finale of the two-game interleague series to be held at its regularly scheduled 7:05 p.m. start time. Hyun-Jin Ryu had been tabbed to start for the Dodgers in Tuesday's contest opposite New York's Phil Hughes. The Dodgers and Yankees were to face one another for the first time ever at Yankee Stadium in regular-season play. The teams last squared off in the Bronx during Game 6 of the 1981 World Series.
