Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Justin Ruggiano's sixth inning double put Miami in front and the Marlins' bullpen spun 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief of Alex Sanabia to down the Philadelphia Phillies, 5-1, in the opener of a three- game set from Marlins Park. Tied at 1-1 in the home half of the sixth, Placido Polanco led off with a single to center. Phillies starter Cole Hamels (1-7), who had a season-high 10 strikeouts, fanned Derek Dietrich and Marcell Ozuna, but Ruggiano delivered a two-out double, scoring Polanco without a throw. Ruggiano drove in an insurance run as part of a three-run eighth on a single up the middle, once again plating Polanco. Two batters later, Nick Green's bloop single against Phillippe Aumont sent two more Marlins across the plate. Sanabia (3-6) went 6 1/3 innings in his second start against the Phillies in May, giving up just one run on seven hits. Former Phillie Chad Qualls hurled a perfect ninth to secure Miami's second straight win after dropping seven in a row.

Flushing, NY (Sports Network) - Jay Bruce belted the go-ahead homer in the sixth inning and Aroldis Chapman made it stand up in the ninth inning, as the Cincinnati Reds held on for a 4-3 win over the New York Mets. Bruce and Brandon Phillips each drove in two runs, and Johnny Cueto (2-0) returned from the disabled list and fanned eight over five innings to get the win. Cueto had been sidelined with a strained right lat. He last started April 13 in a 3-1 loss against Pittsburgh, but on Monday the right-hander gave up just three hits and as many runs while walking four batters. The Reds have won eight of their last 10 games. Chapman, who blew his past two save opportunities, including Sunday when giving up back-to-back ninth inning homers at Philadelphia, fanned two in a 1-2-3 final frame for his ninth save of the year. Shaun Marcum (0-5) allowed six hits and the four runs, while fanning seven in taking the loss in the opener of this three-game series. Marlon Byrd belted a three-run homer.

Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - Clayton Kershaw fired a three-hit complete game, and Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp homered, as the Los Angeles Dodgers edged the Milwaukee Brewers, 3-1, to start a three-game set at Miller Park. Kershaw (5-2) walked one and had five strikeouts to earn his 10th career complete game. He was one out shy of going the distance in his most recent start, last Tuesday against the Washington Nationals. Ethier tacked on an RBI triple for the Dodgers, who were swept in a three-game set at Atlanta over the weekend. Yovani Gallardo (3-4) surrendered eight hits and three runs and had seven strikeouts over six innings for the Brewers. He's lost three consecutive starts. Norichika Aoki drove in the lone run for Milwaukee, which fell to 3-15 this month.

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Patrick Corbin recorded yet another quality start and this time went the distance for the first time in his brief career as the Arizona Diamondbacks shut down the Colorado Rockies, 5-1, in an NL West battle at Coors Field. Corbin (7-0) stayed perfect on the season and has thrown at least six innings and held the opposition to two or fewer runs in all nine of his outings. The 23-year-old lefty gave up just one run on three hits and one walk while racking up a career-high 10 strikeouts. Didi Gregorius, Eric Chavez and A.J. Pollock each had three hits for an Arizona attack that pounded out 16. Gregorius had two RBI, Chavez scored a run and knocked in another and Pollock came around twice in the victory, Arizona's fifth in six games. Jon Garland (3-5) was knocked around for 11 hits and five runs in a six-inning start for the Rockies, who had won three in a row coming in.

San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - Jason Marquis pitched six solid innings while Jesus Guzman was hit by a pitch to force in the winning run as the San Diego Padres took a 4-2 win over the St. Louis Cardinals to open a three-game series. Marquis (6-2) gave up just two runs -- one earned -- on three hits with four walks and three strikeouts to win his fifth straight start for the Padres, who have won three straight and five of seven. Will Venable hit a solo home run while Chris Denorfia went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Shelby Miller (5-3) gave up three runs on five hits in 5 2/3 innings for the Cardinals, who had won five of seven coming into the game. Yadier Molina and Carlos Beltran each scored a run in the loss.

San Francisco, CA (Sports Network) - Just when it looked as though San Francisco starter Ryan Vogelsong had righted the ship after a shaky start to the season, the veteran right-hander was hit with his toughest break of the year. Vogelsong spun five stellar innings in the Giants' 8-0 shutout of the Washington Nationals Monday, but fractured his pitching hand in the bottom of the fifth after taking a fastball off his right knuckle while swinging at a pitch. Vogelsong (2-4) limited the Nats to just three hits and a walk before the injury, with four San Francisco relievers combining on four hitless innings to complete the shutout and halt the Giants' three-game skid. Angel Pagan plated three runs and scored once, while Brandon Belt went 4-for-5 with a solo homer and four runs scored for the Giants, who pounded out a season- high 17 hits in the triumph. Zach Duke (0-1) was tagged with the loss in his first start since 2011 after giving up four runs on seven hits in just 3 1/3 frames. Duke also accounted for one of Washington's three hits, as the Nationals dropped their third straight contest.

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Dan Uggla staked Julio Teheran to an early four-run lead with a three-run homer and the young right-hander did the rest in pitching the Atlanta Braves to a 5-1 victory over the struggling Minnesota Twins in the opener of a three-game interleague series at Turner Field. The 22-year-old Teheran (3-1) allowed five hits and one walk while fanning four over 8 1/3 effortless innings. He had retired eight in a row before Josh Willingham spoiled his shutout bid with a one-out homer in the ninth. Freddie Freeman drove in a run and scored another for the Braves, who have won four straight following a 1-5 stretch. Kevin Correia (4-4) was chased after four innings, having surrendered five runs on eight hits in Minnesota's sixth straight loss.
