MLB Draft Profile - Colin Moran
From The Sports Network

Position: 3B

College: North Carolina

Year: Junior

Height: 6-3

Weight: 215

Moran is one of the top hitters in the country for a Tar Heels club set to do some damage in the College World Series. Moran has strong baseball roots and is the nephew of former major league All-Star catcher and No. 1 overall pick B.J. Surhoff, while his older brother, Brian, is a Mariners' farmhand ... Moran has power from the left side of the plate and will eventually grow into a more powerful hitting third baseman. He has an accurate arm and will join fellow UNC draft picks such as Dustin Ackley and Matt Harvey to be plucked early on in the MLB Draft ... Moran, a preseason All-America, will be a high commodity since power hitting third baseman are tough to come by. Those skills could have earned him an MLB roster invite coming out of high school, but he opted to stay true to the Tar Heels ... Moran, though, ran into trouble with his temper by punching a wall and suffering a broken hand. That behavior will not be tolerated in the pros ... With strong hand-eye coordination and ability to hit all areas of the field, Moran has a bright future ahead. He just needs to work on his speed, but many on the hot corner don't have Jose Reyes speed.
