New York, NY (Sports Network) - Minnesota Swarm forward Ryan Benesch is the National Lacrosse League's Overall Player of the Week for the games played on April 23rd, Week #16 and the final week of the 2011 regular season. Benesch notched a game-high eight points (3 goals, 5 assists) and collected five loose balls in Minnesota's 12-8 victory over Colorado. The win clinched second place and a first round home playoff game for the Swarm, the first for the franchise since 2008. Benesch has also been named the league's Offensive Player of the Week.
Minnesota Swarm goaltender Nick Patterson has been named the Defensive Player of the Week. Patterson made 37 saves on 45 shots in Minnesota's 12-8 home playoff clinching victory against Colorado.
Jordan Hall of the Rochester Knighthawks has been named Transition Player of the Week. Hall had two goals, one assist and five loose balls in the Knighthawks 15-9 road victory at Buffalo. He opened the scoring and assisted on the Knighthawks' third goal as Rochester raced out to a 6-0 lead in the first quarter.
Rochester Knighthawks forward Cody Jamieson wins Rookie of the Week honors. Jamieson saved his best game for the regular season finale, scoring three goals and adding four assists to help Rochester take down Buffalo 15-9.
The weekly player awards are determined by a vote of the General Managers and Head Coaches of the league's ten member clubs.
