* - Defending Champion
The first major of the 2011 campaign tees off on Thursday in California. Last year, it was the current No. 1 player who took the traditional winner`s dip in the pond adjacent to the 18th green. Yani Tseng won the first of her two major championships in 2010 at the Kraft Nabisco when she beat Suzann Pettersen by a single stroke. Tseng shot a final-round 68 to come from behind and get her second major. She won the 2008 LPGA Championship. Pettersen nearly chipped in for eagle on the par-five 18th, but settled for birdie. For Tseng, it was only her third LPGA Tour victory, but her second major. She went on to win the Women`s British Open last year and the NW Arkansas Championship. Tseng won several events overseas to start 2011 and that got her to the No. 1 spot in the world rankings. She began this LPGA Tour season with a victory at the Honda LPGA Thailand. But the hottest player so far on tour this year has been Hall-of-Famer Karrie Webb. She captured the HSBC Women`s Champions and the RR Donnelley Founders Cup in back-to-back starts. Webb can join Amy Alcott, Betsy King and Annika Sorenstam as three-time champions. Golf Channel has all the action all week. The LPGA Tour is off until the end of April when the Avent LPGA Classic tees off. Se Ri Pak won the title in 2010.
