Quaker Ridge gets 2018 Curtis Cup
Far Hills, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - The United States Golf Association announced on Wednesday that New York's Quaker Ridge Golf Club will host the 2018 Curtis Cup.
Quaker Ridge, located in Scarsdale, will hold its second USGA championship after previously hosting the 1997 Walker Cup. Quaker Ridge joins The Minikahda Club and Merion Golf Club as the only three courses that have hosted both championships.
The Curtis Cup pits a team of amateur women from the U.S. against one from Great Britain and Ireland.
"The USGA is excited to return to Quaker Ridge Golf Club for this celebration of women's amateur golf," Daniel B. Burton, USGA vice president and chairman of the championship committee, said in a statement.
"Quaker Ridge provided a stern and fair test for the 1997 Walker Cup competitors, and we are confident that it will do the same for these elite female amateurs in four years, when the match is contested for the 40th time."
The 2018 Curtis Cup will be held from June 8-10. The 2016 championship will be contested at Dun Laoghaire Golf Club, near Dublin, Ireland, from June 10-12.
The United States won the 2014 Curtis Cup to push its advantage in the series to 28-7-3.
