NOTES:
The Nationwide Tour travels to South America this week to kick off the 2012 season at the Pacific Rubiales Bogota Open in Colombia. Five winners from the 2011 season are in the field - Brenden Pappas (Pacific Rubiales Bogota Open), Russell Henley (Stadion Classic at UGA), Steve Friesen (Price Cutter Charity Championship), James Nitties (Midwest Classic) and Kirk Triplett (News Sentinel Open).

The tournament will be played at the Country Club of Bogota on the Fundadores (Founders) Course, which was founded in 1917. It was the first club in Colombia to have a golf course. The club features two 18-hole golf courses and serves as one of Colombia's most important sports infrastructures. The Country Club of Bogota has hosted the Colombian Open 10 times. Bernhard Langer won the event contested here in 1980.

Last year, Pappas was declared the winner of the rain-shortened tournament at The Country Club of Bogota. Pappas had begun his third round after the second round was completed Sunday morning, but inclement weather forced the cancellation of the third round. Scores reverted back to the end of the second round, where Pappas' nine-under 133 was good enough for the victory. It was a fortunate circumstance for Pappas, who had fallen into a five-way tie for the lead a few holes into the third round. Instead, he finished one shot better than Matt Every, who shot a pair of 67s to come in at eight-under 134. It was Pappas' second career victory on the Nationwide Tour and first since the 2006 Rex Hospital Open.

Pappas is on hand this week to try and become the first player in Nationwide Tour history to successfully defend his title. Pappas finished 41st on the 2011 money list.

In 2010, former PGA Tour winner Steve Pate parred the second playoff hole to defeat Aaron Watkins and win the inaugural tournament. Pate shot rounds of 70-66-66-71 to finish at 11-under-par 273 with Watkins. It was his first win anywhere since the 1998 CVS Charity Classic on the PGA Tour. It was Pate's first Nationwide Tour victory, but he is a six-time winner on the PGA Tour and a two-time United States Ryder Cupper.

The 2010 tournament was the first Nationwide Tour event ever held in South America. PGA Tour player Camilo Villegas is a native of Colombia. Villegas played in the pro-am in 2010 and conducted a youth event. He then flew to Florida and won the PGA Tour's Honda Classic. His younger brother, Manuel, is playing in this tournament. Manuel finished tied for 19th last year.

Pacific Rubiales is a Canadian-listed producer of oil and natural gas with headquarters in Bogota. The company is the largest independent oil and gas exploration and production company in Colombia. The company is focused on identifying growth opportunities in Colombia and northern Peru.

The Nationwide Tour returns in two weeks in Panama for the Panama Claro Championship, where Mathew Goggin captured the 2011 title.
