NOTES
The Nationwide Tour kicks off its 2011 season in Panama this week and 2010 winner Fran Quinn will be on hand to defend his title. Quinn fired an eight-under 62 in the third round, then needed just a one-over 71 in the final round to hang on for a two-stroke win over Brian Smock. The win for Quinn was his fourth on the Nationwide Tour. His four-round total of 15-under 265 smashed Tripp Isenhour`s old record mark of 269. Quinn also notched the 54-hole scoring mark en route to victory. No player has ever successfully defend a title on the Nationwide Tour. Despite the win, 2010 was a tough year for Quinn. He played 10 events in all, seven on the PGA Tour and three on the Nationwide Tour, but didn`t play after the first weekend in May. He missed the remainder of the year with stress fractures in his spine. He will play via the Major Medical Exemption category in 2011. There is no television coverage this week. The Nationwide Tour heads to Colombia next week for the Pacific Rubiales Bogota Open, where Steve Pate became the oldest-ever Nationwide Tour winner last year.
