Prugh leads suspended Mexico event

Leon, Mexico (Sports Network) - Alex Prugh was 2-under par through nine holes of his third round Saturday and was one stroke clear of the field midway through the third round of the suspended Mexico Championship.

Prugh, who led when the second round was completed earlier Saturday, stands at 11-under par for the tournament.

Whee Kim was 5-under after 15 holes and had climbed into second place at minus-10. Matthew Goggin and Wes Roach share third place at minus-9.

Tim Wilkinson, Ariel Canete and Michael Putnam are three strokes off the lead at 8-under par.

Jose de Jesus Rodriguez is the clubhouse leader as he carded his second straight 69 to end three rounds at 6-under-par 210.

There have been weather delays each of the first three days, and there is a chance of more storms on Sunday.

Prugh started his third round with a birdie at the first. After a pair of pars, he stumbled to bogeys at four and five to slip to minus-8.

The 2009 New Zealand Open winner bounced back with three consecutive birdies from the seventh to jump to 11-under before play was called for the day.

"Today was a weird day. It felt like I was on my feet for the last 14 hours because I have been," Prugh said. "But I definitely felt a little fatigue out there and had some wayward tee shots that led to a few bogeys."

Kim posted birdies at the first and third. He soared into second place with three birdies in a 4-hole span from the fifth. That burst moved Kim to minus-10.

NOTES: Prugh will go for his second Web.com Tour win on Sunday, while Kim will go for his first tour victory ... The third round will resume at 9 a.m. (ET) on Sunday with the final round to follow ... Earlier Saturday in the second round, Kevin Tway had a hole-in-one on the par-3 12th.
