NOTES:
The European Tour travels to Singapore this week for the Singapore Open at Sentosa Golf Club. This is the 46th edition of this event, but the first year that it is part of the European Tour. The purse for this tournament is $5 million (U.S. dollars), which makes it the largest prize fund for a national open in Asia.

Six of the top-25 players in the world are in the field this week - Phil Mickelson (2), Padraig Harrington (6), Geoff Ogilvy (12), Ian Poulter (21), Ernie Els (22), Robert Karlsson (25). Mickelson is playing for the first time since helping the United States win The Presidents Cup three weeks ago. It is his first stroke-play event since The Tour Championship on the PGA Tour in September, where he won by three strokes over world No. 1 Tiger Woods.

This event is co-sanctioned by the European Tour and Asian Tour. It will be the 58th tournament sanctioned between the two tours since the first one took place in 1999.

This will be the 10th European Tour event held in Singapore. The 1993 Johnnie Walker Classic was staged at Singapore Island, won by Nick Faldo. The 1996 Johnnie Walker Classic was held at Tanah Merah, won by Ian Woosnam. The 2001 Singapore Masters was staged at Singapore Island, won by Vijay Singh. The 2002-07 Singapore Masters were held at Laguna National Golf & Country Club. Colin Montgomerie, the 2010 European Ryder Cup captain, won the 2004 event at Laguna.

The European Tour heads to China next week for the WGC-HSBC Champions at Sheshan International Golf Club in Shanghai, where Mickelson will defend his title.
