Goldberg wins Jane Rogers Championship in playoff

Halton Hills, ON (Sports Network) - Aaron Goldberg chipped in for eagle on the first extra hole Sunday to beat Trey Denton in a playoff and win the Jane Rogers Championship.

Goldberg, who shared a three-shot lead after the third round, bogeyed the 17th hole and closed with a one-under 70. The victory was his second of the season.

In the group ahead, Denton birdied the 18th for a four-under 67 that got him into the playoff.

The pair finished at eight-under 276, one shot ahead of Rob Grube (66) and Daniel Im (68). Ryan Thornberry (72) ended another stroke further back at six- under 278.

Goldberg, 25, was coming off a win in his last Canadian Tour start, the Players Cup on July 18th, which got him into the field at the PGA Tour's Canadian Open and moved him to No. 1 on the money list. It was his first career title.

He missed the cut at the Canadian Open, but bounced right back with another win this week to extend his lead at the top of the money list, earning $20,000 for his latest title.

NOTES: The top five finishers were all Americans, led by the Californian Goldberg...Adam Hadwin, who is No. 3 on the money list, was the top Canadian in the field. He tied American Tom Glissmeyer for seventh, one spot behind England's Matt Richardson.
