Winchester gets big opportunity

Jesse Winchester will move to the team's top line.
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Ottawa Senators center Jesse Winchester will get a big chance to shine over the next two months as the replacement for star center Jason Spezza (ADP 33) on Ottawa's top line. Winchester will play between wingers Milan Michalek (15G, 6A) and Daniel Alfredsson (9G, 21A).

Spezza, who was expected to carry the bulk of the offensive load for Ottawa this season, had totaled a disappointing 19 points (5G, 14A) in 30 games, well below the point-per-game average he has had over the past four years. He suffered a serious right-knee injury in the third period against Toronto on Monday night when Leafs' forward Lee Stempniak fell on him and he "felt his knee pop."

The team immediately called up Josh Hennessy who had 24 points (10G, 14A) in 27 games for AHL Binghamton, but it's Winchester who will move to the team's top line - at least for now. Winchester has just six points in 16 games.

At the moment, it's tough to say that Winchester will become "fantasy-worthy." Looks like a wait-and-see situation, but be prepared to pick him up if he plays well in the first few games.
