Who's Hot, Who's Not - Hitting May 4

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - A couple of guys named "Brett" lead the list and all three "Who's Hot" guys are owned in less than 70-percent of all leagues. That means there are plenty of hits to be had without breaking up your squad with a costly trade.

Who's Hot

Brett Gardner, NYY - Gardner has always been a guy you thought of when you needed to add steals to your lineup, but he's giving you so much more this season. The leftfielder already has three home runs this season after hitting five in all of 2010. Gardner got off to a very slow start this season (BA .128, OPS .388 through April 19th), but over the last two weeks is batting .385 with an OPS of 1.351.

Gardner is available in one-out-of-every-three leagues and could be a nice replacement if you need an outfielder because of the injuries to Jose Tabata or Shin-Soo Choo.

Brett Wallace, HOU - The youngster is off to a quick start after a not very impressive 2010 stint with the big club. For the season he's batting .383 with an OPS of .990 and even more impressive, he's batting .523 with an OPS of 1.333 over the last two weeks.

Wallace is only owned in 30-percent of all leagues and is a solid waiver pickup selection with Cincinnati and Pittsburgh on the upcoming schedule.

Juan Uribe, LAD - When the Dodgers signed Uribe in the offseason, it was hard to figure out where the team would play him. However, because of injuries to Rafael Furcal and Casey Blake, he's played three different positions already and that flexibility will work to your advantage if you pick him up. That and the fact that he's batting .351 with three home runs, 12 RBIs and has an OPS of 1.051 over the past 14 days.

Uribe is owned in about 50-percent of all leagues and if you are dealing with infield injuries could be the perfect temporary solution.

Who's Not

Troy Tulowitzki, COL - When the historically slow-starting Tulowitzki got off to a fast start, fantasy owners started dreaming of "career-year" type numbers. He was batting .364 through April 18th with an OPS of 1.259. Since that point the Rockies shortstop has reverted to his "old" self, the guy who doesn't start pounding the ball until the weather heats up. Over the past two weeks he's batting just .209, without a homer after hitting seven in the first 12 games, and has an OPS over the 14-day span of 0.530.

The summer can't come soon enough for "Tulo" and his fantasy owners. Be patient.

Alex Rodriguez, NYY - Rodriguez's numbers look satisfactory from afar, but upon further review we see that he's been extremely ugly over the past two weeks. After batting .385 through April 16th, the Yankees third baseman has lost his swing, hitting just .163 with an OPS of 0.524. He's not the superstar he once was, but he's still good for 30 homers and 100 RBIs. He also doesn't steal double-digit bases like the "old" days.

I'm not telling you to cut him, but if someone makes you a fair offer, A-Rod is no longer an "untouchable."

Starlin Castro, CHC - Castro began the season quickly with a first week batting average over .400 and an OPS of over 1.000. But reality has struck and the Cubs shortstop is zero for his last 12 at-bats and 12-for-60 over the past two weeks with just two extra base hits. His OPS over the span is 0.459.

Castro is a better player than fantasy value who will bat around the .300 mark and steal around 10-12 bases, but with little or no power.
