Week 12 Player Fantasy Rankings - Wide Receivers
By Steve Schwarz, Fantasy Sports Editor
Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - A person of supposed high IQ would have to be crazy not to pick Calvin Johnson as the No. 1 receiver in Week 12 based on the way he's played over the past month.
And I like to think I'm pretty smart, so you won't find me going against "Megatron."
Despite possibly facing Darrelle Revis all afternoon, there is no evidence that he'll be shut down by the Bucs' defensive back. Over the past four games, the Lions' All-Pro receiver has averaged an amazing 35.4 fantasy points.
Johnson leads all wide receivers in fantasy scoring this season doing it in just nine games - he missed one due to injury and Detroit had a bye in Week 9. He's fourth in targets overall, but over the past four games has averaged 15.2 targets per contest, the most of any receiver.
Given that level of targets and Johnson's ability, we're comfortable with him at the top of this week's wide receiver rankings.
You will also find the Giants' wideout Victor Cruz in the top-five. Despite a below average season from Eli Manning and the New York passing game, we thought they started to come together last weekend against Green Bay. Add in that Cruz toasted the Cowboys in Week 1 for 118 yards and three scores and his fantasy owners should enjoy a top-five performance in Week 12.
At the other end of the list you will find Miami wide receiver Mike Wallace. A fantasy stud in Pittsburgh, he's been a bust with the Dolphins and probably shouldn't be in any fantasy starting lineups these days except as a bye-week replacement. He's averaging just 53 ypg and has one lone touchdown back in Week 2.
We're also not "buying" Arizona wideout Michael Floyd who blew up last week for 193 yards and a score. Most of the production came on a 91-yard touchdown catch and run. Even with last week's outburst (33.3 points) he's averaging just 10.3 ppg and plays "second fiddle" to Larry Fitzgerald.
Below you will find the complete list of receivers.
