Salvador Perez, C, KAN9/1/2014 10:47:00 PM
Description: Royals catcher Salvador Perez went 3-for-4 with a double, a homer and three RBI Monday against Texas.
Insight: Perez batted just .229 in August and is hitting .269 on the season after batting .292 or better in his first three seasons. He does have a career-high 16 home runs, however.
Buster Posey, C, SFGHot9/1/2014 9:41:00 PM
Description: Giants catcher Buster Posey went 3-for-5 with a double and one RBI Monday at Colorado.
Insight: Posey has batted a ridiculous .469 with four doubles, a triple, five homers and 14 RBI in his last 11 games (49 at-bats). During that span, he's raised his average from .278 to .299 and his OPS from .759 to .824.
Evan Gattis, C, ATL9/1/2014 12:11:00 PM
Description: Braves catcherr Evan Gattis is not in the starting lineup for Monday's game against Philadelphia
Insight: He had faced Phillies ace Cole Hamels just six times, but has taken him deep twice. Gattis's home run on Sunday was his first extra-base hit in a week. This appears to be a routine day off.
Evan Gattis, C, ATL9/1/2014 9:42:00 AM
Description: Evan Gattis has faced Phillies ace Cole Hamels just six times, but has taken him deep twice.
Insight: Gattis's home run on Sunday was his first extra-base hit in a week, but perhaps he can make it two in a row this afternoon..
Chris Iannetta, C, ANA8/31/2014 10:48:00 PM
Description: Angels catcher Chris Iannetta went a perfect 3-for-3 with a RBI, two runs and a walk on Sunday against the A's.
Insight: Ianetta tacked on a solo home run in the eighth with the Angels routing the A's to get the four-game sweep. Ianetta also hit a home run on Saturday. The catcher is batting .265 with seven home runs and 38 RBI this year.
Caleb Joseph, C, BAL8/31/2014 8:57:00 PM
Description: Orioles catcher Caleb Joseph went 4-for-5 with a RBI and run against the Twins on Sunday.
Insight: Joseph has been a decent platoon offensive catcher for Baltimore in place of Matt Wieters this year. He is hitting .240 with eight home runs and 24 RBI in 196 at-bats. In his last five games, he is batting .400 with three RBI.
Evan Gattis, C, ATL8/31/2014 8:06:00 PM
Description: Evan Gattis went 1-for-4 with a solo home on Sunday against the Marlins.
Insight: Gattis was not a smart start on Sunday due to his 0-for-8 with four strikeouts lifetime performance against Miami starter Nathan Eovaldi. The catcher rewarded his loyal owners with a solo shot in the second inning as the Braves defeated the Marlins, 1-0.
Yadier Molina, C, STL8/31/2014 7:23:00 PM
Description: Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina went 2-for-5 with an RBI against the Cubs on Sunday.
Insight: All the sudden with Molina back in the lineup, the second lowest scoring offense in baseball is putting up some runs. In three games back since his stint on the DL, Molina is 0-for-3, 3-for-5 and 2-for-5 and the Cardinals have scored two, 13 and nine runs in those games, respectively. Molina makes both the lineup of St. Louis and your fantasy team more potent.
Evan Gattis, C, ATL8/31/2014 9:41:00 AM
Description: Leave Braves catcher Evan Gattis on your bench Sunday.
Insight: Gattis is 0-for-8 with four strikeouts against Miami starter Nathan Eovaldi. Gattis has produced 20 homers this season and no matter where he plays next season as long as he's eligible as a catcher he's be a fantasy-worthy starter. But not Sunday in this unfavorable matchup.
Yadier Molina, C, STL8/31/2014 9:38:00 AM
Description: Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina is a career .424 hitter (14-for-33) with three homers and 12 RBI against Cubs starter Travis Wood.
Insight: Molina caught the back end of last night's doubleheader, but should be back in the lineup today and he should be in your fantasy lineup as well.
Travis d'Arnaud, C, NYM8/31/2014 9:18:00 AM
Description: Mets catcher Travis d'Arnaud is 5-for 9 with a double and two home runs versus Phillies starter A.J. Burnett.
Insight: d'Arnaud is showing some power this season with 12 home runs, but his .227 batting average needs to be a bit higher is he wants more than occasional attention from fantasy owners. Sunday might be one of those occasions.
Yadier Molina, C, STL8/30/2014 2:39:00 PM
Description: Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina is not in the Cardinals lineup for Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Cubs.
Insight: This is not a surprise. Even if Molina was not a day removed from being activated from the DL, he would not be catching both games of a doubleheader. Molina plans to catch the second game and is available to pinch hit in the first. The catcher went 0-for-3 on Friday in his first action since July 9.
Yasmani Grandal, C, SDP8/30/2014 9:39:00 AM
Description: San Diego catcher Yasmani Grandal hit a walk-off RBI single in the 12th inning to lift the Padres over the Dodgers, 3-2.
Insight: Grandal was 0-for-4 with three strikeouts prior to the single. The 25-year-old has had a rough year though, hitting .210 with 11 home runs, 34 RBI in 290 at-bats.
Buster Posey, C, SFGHot8/30/2014 9:37:00 AM
Description: Giants catcher Buster Posey went 5-for-5 with a triple, three RBI and three runs scored in San Francisco's big victory over Milwaukee, 13-2.
Insight: Posey snapped his seven-game hitting streak on Thursday, going 0-for-4, but responded with five hits on Friday. In his last nine games, Posey is batting .500 (20-for-40) with five home runs, three doubles, a triple, 13 RBI and 11 runs. The catcher has raised his season totals to .297, 18 home runs, 71 RBI and .823 OPS.
Chris Iannetta, C, ANA8/30/2014 9:24:00 AM
Description: Angels catcher Chris Iannetta recorded three RBI in three plate appearances on Friday against the A's.
Insight: Ianetta broke a scoreless tie with a two-run shot off Jon Lester in the fifth inning, then walked with the bases loaded to force in a run during the sixth. In 257 at-bats this year, Ianetta is hitting .257 with six home runs and 37 RBI.
Devin Mesoraco, C, CIN8/29/2014 9:59:00 PM
Description: Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco went 2-for-3, driving in Cincinnati's lone run in the team's Friday night loss.
Insight: The catcher is suddenly five for his last eight after going 31 at-bats with just one hit. In 319 at-bats this year, Mesoraco is hitting .282 with 20 home runs and 65 RBI.
Yadier Molina, C, STL8/29/2014 5:09:00 PM
Description: The Cardinals have activated catcher Yadier Molina from the 15-day disabled list, and he is in the starting lineup against the Cubs on Friday.
Insight: Molina went 5-for-6 with three doubles in his two rehab games at Double-A, so he looks ready to go. A.J. Pierzynski will serve as Molina's backup.
Yan Gomes, C, CLE8/29/2014 4:29:00 PM
Description: Indians catcher Yan Gomes (concussion) has been activated for Friday's game withKansas City.
Insight: Gomes suffered a concussion when a foul ball hit him in the mask last Thursday. He is hitting .284 with 17 home runs and 53 RBI this season and become a viable fantasy option.
Brian McCann, C, NYY8/29/2014 10:12:00 AM
Description: Yankees catcher Brian McCann is a career .429 hitter (9-for-21) against Blue Jays left-hander Mark Buehrle.
Insight: McCann is just one of four hitters on the Yankees roster with career batting averages over .420 against Buehrle (min 10 at-bats). The other three are Brett Gardner, Stephen Drew and Ichiro Suzuki.
Russell Martin, C, PITHot8/29/2014 9:48:00 AM
Description: Pirates catcher Russell Martin is a career .258 hitter, but a .370 hitter against Reds starter Mike Leake.
Insight: Batting in the heart of the Pirates lineup, mostly fifth, has been good for Martin, who is hitting .347 over the past four weeks and .295 for the season. Start him.
Yadier Molina, C, STL8/28/2014 8:11:00 PM
Description: Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina is set to catch five innings in a rehab start with Double-A Springfield on Thursday and then drive back to St. Louis to rejoin the big league club according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Insight: Apparently the new Cardinals owner is Rachel Phelps from Major League since Molina is driving about 220 miles back to St. Louis from Springfield, MO rather than flying. Either way, if Molina does not suffer a set back in his five innings catching at Double-A, he could be activated for Friday's game against the Cubs. Molina is set to catch five to six innings Wednesday in his first rehab start at Double-A Springfield. He will be wearing support on his surgically-repaired right thumb, but it's not expected to affect his hitting or throwing. If St. Louis wants, they can wait until Monday to move Molina up from the minors because the roster expands on September 1, but if he is ready this weekend, the Cardinals need every offensive boost they can get. Molina had surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb on July 11. He'll participate in a full workout Tuesday and if he clears the hurdle will be sent to Double-A Springfield. The team is hoping to have him back by Sept. 1, if not sooner.
Yan Gomes, C, CLE8/28/2014 7:29:00 PM
Description: Indians manager Terry Francona said Thursday that Yan Gomes (concussion) is set to be activated on Friday.
Insight: Gomes suffered a concussion when a foul ball hit him in the mask last Thursday. The catcher has been symptom-free for a while, but he will go through some pre-game tests before the official decision is made. In 109 games, Gomes is hitting .284 with 17 home runs and 53 RBI this season.
Alex Avila, C, DET8/28/2014 4:53:00 PM
Description: Detroit catcher Alex Avila went 1-for-3 with a walk-off single against the New York Yankees on Thursday.
Insight: It was nice to see Avila produce in the clutch, but the catcher is hitting .196 since the All-Star break, so we would not expect him to be in many lineups going forward.
Evan Gattis, C, ATL8/28/2014 4:36:00 PM
Description: Braves catcher Evan Gattis is not in Thursday's starting lineup.
Insight: Gerald Laird will get the start. Laird is a solid backstop, but not much of a fantasy value with a .219 batting average. Gattis has struggled since he returned from a bulging disk in his back, but his second consecutive 20 home run season makes him a top fantasy backstop.
Mike Zunino, C, SEACold8/27/2014 9:17:00 PM
Description: Mariners catcher Mike Zunino went 1-for-4 with a solo homer Wednesday against Texas.
Insight: Zunino was just two for his previous 28 (.071) with 15 strikeouts. He's hit 19 homers this season, but with a .205 average, 48 RBI, 46 runs and a .680 OPS he is an AL-only option at best.
Wilin Rosario, C, COL8/27/2014 5:56:00 PM
Description: Colorado catcher Wilin Rosario (wrist) has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Aug. 23.
Insight: Rosario missed the last four games due to left wrist soreness. Michael McKenry, who has hit .319 with five homers in 116 at-bats this season, will become the full-time starter behind the plate.
Buster Posey, C, SFGHot8/27/2014 3:24:00 PM
Description: Giants catcher Buster Posey has batted .462 with three doubles, four homers and seven RBI over his last six games.
Insight: Posey blasted two homers Tuesday against Colorado and now has 17 homers and 65 RBI on the year. His OPS is in the .800s for the first time since June 26.
Wilson Ramos, C, WAS8/27/2014 12:44:00 PM
Description: Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos is a career .545 hitter (6-for-11) against Phillies starting pitcher Kyle Kendrick.
Insight: Ramos is 2-for-8 in the series against the Phillies with a home run, two RBI and a run. In 252 at-bats this year, Ramos is hitting .290 with seven home runs and 36 RBI.
Salvador Perez, C, KAN8/27/2014 12:01:00 PM
Description: Royals catcher Salvador Perez is a career .143 hitter (2-for-14) with one RBI against Twins starting pitcher Phil Hughes.
Insight: Perez underwent a MRI on his knee last week and even though manager Ned Yost downplayed the injury, the all-star catcher is just 2-for-16 since the MRI. Wednesday is a tough matchup for Perez, so his struggles may continue.
Brian McCann, C, NYY8/27/2014 11:27:00 AM
Description: Yankees catcher Brian McCann is a career .417 hitter (5-for-12) with three home runs and five RBI against Tigers starter David Price.
Insight: McCann has a five-game hitting streak, in which he is hitting .313 with a home run and four RBI. The catcher had a pinch-hit walkoff home run on Sunday. McCann never really recovered from his terrible start this season. It looked like he was making strides as he hit .287 in July, but he has followed that up with a .229 batting average in August.
Yadier Molina, C, STL8/27/2014 11:04:00 AM
Description: Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina (torn ligament in right thumb) could be activated from the disabled list as soon as this weekend.
Insight: Molina is set to catch five to six innings Wednesday in his first rehab start at Double-A Springfield.
Caleb Joseph, C, BAL8/27/2014 9:57:00 AM
Description: Baltimore catcher Caleb Joseph went 2-for-4 and had two RBI against the Rays on Tuesday.
Insight: Joseph hit a two-run single in the fourth inning that gave the Orioles the lead for good. The 28-year old rookie is hitting .228 this season with eight home runs and 23 RBI.
Devin Mesoraco, C, CINCold8/26/2014 4:23:00 PM
Description: Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco is not in Tuesday's starting lineup. Brayan Pena will be behind the plate.

Evan Gattis, C, ATL8/26/2014 11:01:00 AM
Description: Braves catcher Evan Gattis is just 1-for-12 against Mets starter Dillon Gee.
Insight: Gattis has struggled since he returned from a bulging disk in his back, but his second consecutive 20 home run season makes him a top fantasy backstop. Avoid him Tuesday in this poor matchup.
Wilson Ramos, C, WAS8/25/2014 10:25:00 PM
Description: Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos went 1-for-4 with a solo homer Monday at Philadelphia.
Insight: Ramos has hit .290 this season and he's blasted four homers in his last 62 at-bats after hitting three in his first 180. The lack of power earlier this season could be a byproduct of the surgery to remove his broken hamate bone in April. He put 16 balls into the seats and drove in 59 runs in just 287 at-bats last season.
Yadier Molina, C, STL8/25/2014 8:40:00 PM
Description: Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina (torn ligament in right thumb) is expected to begin a rehab assignment Wednesday, according to Jenifer Langosch of mlb.com.
Insight: Molina had surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb on July 11. He'll participate in a full workout Tuesday and if he clears the hurdle will be sent to Double-A Springfield. The team is hoping to have him back by Sept. 1, if not sooner.
Wilin Rosario, C, COL8/25/2014 7:20:00 PM
Description: Colorado catcher Wilin Rosario (wrist) is out of the lineup Monday.
Insight: Rosario was hoping to play after sitting out the past two games, but Michael McKenry is behind the plate again for Colorado.
Derek Norris, C, OAKHot8/25/2014 10:13:00 AM
Description: Athletics catcher Derek Norris is a career 5-for-7 (.714) against Houston starter Scott Feldman.
Insight: Norris is still producing solid numbers for a guy with catcher eligibility. He's batting .284 with 10 HR, 47 RBI and a .827 OPS and with this favorable matchup is a must start.
Yasmani Grandal, C, SDP8/24/2014 9:23:00 PM
Description: San Diego catcher Yasmani Grandal went 1-for-3 with a three-run homer and a sacrifice fly Sunday against the Diamondbacks.
Insight: Grandal has 11 homers in 274 at-bats, but he's hit .204 with 32 RBI, 29 runs and a .678 OPS. He's not worth owning in any leagues.
Wilin Rosario, C, COL8/24/2014 8:59:00 PM
Description: Colorado catcher Wilin Rosario has missed the last two games with left wrist soreness, but he hopes to return Monday. SOURCE: Denver Post
Insight: Rosario's batting practice session on Monday will determine if he can play. The catcher's .288 average in August is his highest for any month this season.
Travis d'Arnaud, C, NYMHot8/24/2014 7:54:00 PM
Description: Mets catcher Travis d'Arnaud socked his fifth homer of August and 12th of the season Sunday at Los Angeles.
Insight: d'Arnaud was hitting .180 with a .544 OPS when he was demoted to the minors on June 8. He's hit .263 with 10 doubles, a triple, nine homers, 23 RBI and 26 runs in 175 at-bats since he was recalled on June 24.
John Jaso, C, OAKCold8/24/2014 7:48:00 PM
Description: Oakland C/DH John Jaso will be placed on the disabled list Monday, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Insight: Oakland's acquisition of Geovany Soto on Sunday makes more sense now. Jaso is dealing with concussion symptoms from taking a foul tip off his mask two weeks ago.
Brian McCann, C, NYY8/24/2014 5:31:00 PM
Description: Yankees catcher Brian McCann hit a pinch-hit walk-off three-run homer Sunday against the White Sox.

Evan Gattis, C, ATL8/24/2014 5:01:00 PM
Description: Braves catcher Evan Gattis went 2-for-3 with a double and a solo homer Sunday at Cincinnati.
Insight: Gattis has struggled since he returned from a bulging disk in his back, but his home run stroke appears to be back. He's hit three of them in his last eight starts.
Wilin Rosario, C, COL8/24/2014 2:32:00 PM
Description: Colorado catcher Wilin Rosario was out of the lineup Saturday against the Reds and will miss Sunday as well.
Insight: Rosario has had a disappointing season but he's hit .317 with three doubles, two homers and five RBI in August. Michael McKenry will make another start and with a .340 batting average and .940 OPS has fantasy value.
Carlos Ruiz, C, PHICold8/24/2014 11:48:00 AM
Description: Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz is out of the lineup Sunday against St. Louis
Insight: Day game off following a night game is normal for the 35-year-old. Wil Nieves is doing the catching. Ruiz is hitting .265 with three homers and 20 RBI in 87 games which isn't going to make a fantasy starting lineup.
Wilson Ramos, C, WAS8/24/2014 11:43:00 AM
Description: Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos is not in Sunday's lineup, Jose Lobaton will be behind the plate.
Insight: It looks like just a normal day of rest for Ramos. Ramos is batting .291 with six homers in 63 games, but is just 1-for-8 in the first two games of the series with the Giants. The .210- hitting Lobaton is not fantasy worthy.
John Jaso, C, OAKCold8/24/2014 11:25:00 AM
Description: Oakland C/DH John Jaso is a career 1-for-17 (.059) against Angels right-hander Jered Weaver.
Insight: Jaso's numbers have fallen off a cliff in August. After batting .323 in July, he's hitting just .152 in 15 games this month and should certainly be avoided in this unfavorable matchup.
A.J. Ellis, C, LOS8/23/2014 5:59:00 PM
Description: Dodgers catcher A.J. Ellis is not in the starting lineup Saturday against the Mets.
Insight: Ellis had a double on Friday, but it was his first base-hit since August 16. The catcher is mostly used for his defense as he is hitting .182 with one home run and 14 RBI in 203 at-bats this year.

Description: Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco was not in the lineup Wednesday against the Cardinals, but returns Thursday, batting fifth against Julio Teheran and the Braves.
Insight: Mesoraco has gone hitless in his last 19 at-bats and faces the tough Teheran making him a questionable start for fantasy owners.

Description: Royals catcher Salvador Perez (knee) was to have an MRI Thursday.
Insight: He left Monday's game with knee soreness and is dealing with the issue again after catching a full game Tuesday. The Royals have Thursday off so Perez should be back in the lineup Friday at Texas unless tests reveal something.

Insight: Posey has been getting treatment all day and manager Bruce Bochy hopes to have him behind the plate Thursday. However, Thursday is complicated by the necessary completion of the appealed game from Tuesday. Posey is batting .278 with 13 homers, 58 RBI, 48 runs and a .760 OPS, much closer to last year's numbers than his 2012 MVP season.

Yan Gomes, C, CLEHot8/20/2014 5:50:00 PM
Description: Cleveland catcher Yan Gomes is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Twins.
Insight: Roberto Perez is getting the start. Gomes has batted .284 with 17 homers, 53 RBI, 52 runs and an .804 OPS this season, making him one of the top fantasy backstops. Jonathan Lucroy played this afternoon and Gomes, Devin Mesoraco and Buster Posey are all sitting Wednesday night, so daily league owners don't have a lot of options at catcher behind Victor Martinez.

Description: Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Cardinals.

Carlos Ruiz, C, PHICold8/20/2014 12:53:00 PM
Description: Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz is out of the lineup Wednesday against Seattle.
Insight: Ruiz is getting a break for a day game following a night game. Wil Nieves is doing the catching Wednesday. Ruiz is hitting .174 with two RBI in August.
Derek Norris, C, OAK8/20/2014 12:45:00 PM
Description: Athletics catcher Derek Norris is not in the lineup Wednesday due to a back injury, according to Joe Stiglich of csnbayarea.com.
Insight: The Athletics start three players with catching experience -- Norris, John Jaso, Stephen Vogt -- every day, so they can afford to sit Norris. The back injury isn't affecting him while catching, just while running the bases.
Brian McCann, C, NYY8/19/2014 10:57:00 PM
Description: Yankees catcher Brian McCann went 1-for-4 with a homer and two RBI Tuesday against Houston.

Insight: He left Monday's game with minor knee soreness but won't even need a full game off. He's behind the plate at Colorado.
Yadier Molina, C, STL8/19/2014 4:19:00 PM
Description: Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina (torn ligament in right thumb) says he hopes to begin swinging a bat Wednesday or Thursday, according to Jim Hayes of FOX Sports Midwest.
Insight: It's the next progression in the process. He's already been catching bullpen sessions. Molina was batting .287 with seven homers, 30 RBI and a .751 OPS, significantly down from a season ago.
Wilson Ramos, C, WASHot8/19/2014 3:36:00 PM
Description: Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos is not in Tuesday night's lineup.
Insight: It looks like just a normal day of rest for Ramos. The catcher has a six-game hitting streak which includes four multi-hit games. During that stretch, Ramos has two doubles, a homer and four RBI.

Description: Royals catcher Erik Kratz hit two home runs after entering as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning against the Twins on Monday night. The catcher homered in his only two plate appearances.
Insight: Both of Kratz' home runs were solo shots. The second came in the ninth to extend the Royal lead to 6-1. It was the first time Kratz had hit a home run for the Royals since joining the team on July 28 in a trade from the Blue Jays. The catcher has five home runs in 94 at-bats with the Kansas City and Toronto this season.
Salvador Perez, C, KAN8/18/2014 10:54:00 PM
Description: Royals catcher Salvador Perez left Monday's game with right knee discomfort, according to Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star.
Insight: The Royals called it a "precautionary measure." We imagine all everyday catchers are dealing with knee soreness to a certain degree at this point in the season. A day or two off should do the trick.
Wilson Ramos, C, WAS8/18/2014 10:32:00 PM
Description: Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI Monday against Arizona.

Hector Sanchez, C, SFG8/18/2014 3:16:00 PM
Description: Giants catcher Hector Sanchez left Saturday's rehab start with Triple-A Fresno after taking a foul tip off his mask. The Giants say Sanchez was lifted for precautionary reasons.
Insight: This has to be somewhat alarming since this is the second time Sanchez has left a rehab start for getting hit with a foul tip in the mask. Sanchez should still be activated soon, but he will only see the field to spell Buster Posey and isn't a viable fantasy pickup.
