Jerry Rice Award finalists announced

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Lafayette College quarterback Drew Reed joined the list of finalists as voting began on Monday for the Jerry Rice Award which honors the outstanding freshman in the FCS.

Reed has helped turn around Lafayette's season after the Leopards opened the season with a 1-5 record. They have gone on to win the Patriot League title and qualify for the FCS playoffs.

The winner, from a list of 21 finalists, will be announced Dec. 16 at the FCS Awards Banquet and Presentation.

A panel of sports information and media relations directors, broadcasters, writers and other dignitaries select the Rice Award, which is presented by The Sports Network and in its third year. Voting reflects only the regular season.
