FCS upsets of FBS teams continue
(Sports Network) - FCS teams weren't content with the big opening week of upsets against FBS opponents.
On Saturday, two more were more added to the eight from a week ago.
Chattanooga, looking to avenge its season-opening loss to UT Martin, ran right over transitioning FBS program Georgia State, 42-14, at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
The Mocs dominated the ground game against the Panthers, racking up 401 rushing yards, largely from Keon Williams. The junior tailback carried the ball 20 times for 147 yards and a touchdown.
Also, the Maine Black Bears ran over former Colonial Athletic Association foe Massachusetts, 24-14, at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
After the Minutemen jumped ahead with an early touchdown, Maine ran off 24 unanswered points.
Maine is 2-0 on the young season, while UMass fell to 0-2. It was the first loss to an FCS school for the Minutemen since joining the FBS ranks a year ago.
New Hampshire nearly became a third team to pull an upset. The Wildcats never trailed in their season opener until Central Michigan connected on a last- second 27-yard field goal for a 24-21 win.
