Appalachian State adds transfer wide receiver

Boone, NC (Sports Network) - Appalachian State football has added former University of Oregon wide receiver Tacoi Sumler to its roster, the Mountaineers athletic program announced Monday.

The 5-foot-9, 173-pound transfer will begin practicing with the Mountaineers on Wednesday. He has four seasons of remaining eligibility.

Sumler was a redshirt at Oregon last season. He was considered a four-star recruit out of Christopher Columbus High School in Miami in 2011. The speedster has been timed as low as 4.24 seconds in the 40-yard dash.

Sumler is eligible to play immediately at Appalachian State and has four years of eligibility remaining.

The Mountaineers begin their season on Sept. 1 at East Carolina.
