Montana QB Johnson charged

Missoula, MT (Sports Network) - University of Montana quarterback Jordan Johnson was formally charged Tuesday with sexual intercourse without consent.

Johnson was accused in March of rape.

According to the Missoulian, the felony charge for Johnson carries a possible two years to life sentence in prison. He's been suspended from the football team.

Last season, Johnson completed 196-of-326 passes for 2,305 yards with 21 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

According to the newspaper, the charging documents against Johnson describe an incident that allegedly occurred Feb. 4. The newspaper noted the affidavit in which Missoula County Assistant Chief Deputy Attorney Suzy Boylan described the alleged incident. In it, Johnson made advances on a woman as they watched a movie at the alleged victim's house despite her repeatedly saying "no."

The affidavit said the woman texted her roommate in the living room saying that she thought she had just gotten raped, according to the newspaper. The alleged victim reportedly went to the school's Assault Resource Center and then to the First Step center for a medical exam, and has sought counseling since, according to the affidavit.

Johnson is reportedly set to appear Aug. 14 in Missoula County District Court.
