William & Mary promotes Boone to DC

Williamsburg, VA - William & Mary linebackers coach Scott Boone has added defensive coordinator responsibilities, Tribe head coach Jimmye Laycock announced Wednesday.

Boone is entering his eighth year on the Tribe staff and has more than 25 years of coaching experience, including a seven-year stretch as the Randolph- Macon College (Va.) head coach.

Boone is replacing Bob Shoop in the coordinator role. Shoop left William & Mary to become defensive coordinator and safeties coach at Vanderbilt.

Laycock also announced the hiring of D.K. McDonald Jr. as defensive backs coach. McDonald served as the secondary coach at Indiana University of Pennsylvania for the past five seasons.

William & Mary finished the 2010 season with a 8-4 record and No. 10 ranking in The Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS Top 25. The Tribe will kick off the 2011 season on Sept. 3 at Virginia.
