Broadway remains Grambling State coach
Grambling, LA (Sports Network) - Grambling State announced on Friday that Rod Broadway will remain as its head football coach after he had been a leading candidate for the opening at North Carolina A&T.
Published reports said Broadway would become North Carolina A&T's head coach and Grambling State took down bios of Broadway and the rest of the football coaches from its official athletic website.
But on Friday morning, Grambling State said in an email that Broadway had announced to Grambling State University President's Executive Committee that he would remain at the Southwestern Athletic Conference university.
In four seasons at Grambling State, Broadway has a 35-12 record, including the 2008 SWAC championship.
Broadway previously coached in his native state of North Carolina as the head coach at North Carolina Central, compiling a 33-11 record in four seasons.
North Carolina A&T, a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, fired Alonzo Lee after the Aggies went 1-10 in 2010 and named assistant George Ragsdale as its interim head coach.
